That place does look awesome. If he gets going, i'd definitely make some trips there. The brewery/farm business plan sort of pays for itself. Grow grains (i doubt they are doing this, but would be cool). Make beer. Feed spent grains to livestock. Fertilize fields. Rinse, repeat.

He also told me about him going up to Portland and purchasing the system for it. It's going to be an impressive operation. I think he said they were going to start with 5 beers.

If I win an 8 figure lottery, I will open a brewery in Louisiana. I will bring my brewer with me from Oregon and we will use hops from my personal hop farm in the Willamette Valley... I will have at least 3 beers: Hoppy, Hoppy ER, and Hoppy EST.
The Brooklyn Brewery is an interesting idea. There have been several brewpubs that have opened in the last 6 months that are offshoots of other brewers. Fat Head's and 10 Barrel come to mind. Both of those places put out kick arse beer, and brew the beer on site.
I think it's a great idea, since they can brew a combination of new recipes, along with the tried and true recipes from the original location(like Fat Head's Head Hunter, or 10 Barrel's Dub). If Brooklyn were to move to LA, it's not like it's a chain, and I'm sure they would not resemble the original in the least, except for the beer, and would probably be heavily influenced by local food/culture.

I wouldn't hate Brooklyn being here. Some of their stuff is super legit. And fresh Blast all the time?

I've talked to people who won't go to Fat Head's because it's a "chain". Yeah, with 3 locations: Portland, Cleveleand, and Pittsburgh. Unbelievable. Fresh Head Hunter? Yes, please. Fresh IBUsive? Hell, yes! Good beer is good beer, and having the brewery in town means you won't be getting stale hops, and it might put a little pressure on some of the other breweries to raise their game a little...

Do you know where on McNeese? I'm guessing towards the eastern end of town as that's really the only open area with 10 acres left.
Is the guy's last name Avery that's involved? I have a friend that works at SW Beverage and I think that's the name he told me.

I can't say what they did before or after they were here, but they were definitely on Broad St. in downtown LC for several years. Don't know the exact opening and closing dates because I didn't live here at the time.
It's a shame because the building they were in is perfect. It's now a shitty pizza place that also calls itself a "pint house" with the worst imaginable tap list for 20 taps. I've been twice and left disappointed both times.
