I want to cook one but the wife is being dramatic, yelling that I’m crazy for wanting to cook a gumbo “during a literal heat advisory”. It’s a cool 69 degrees in the house! She wants jambalaya instead. I’m not opposed at all to a jambalaya but now I really want to make a gumbo just to watch her stuff her face with it while there’s a heat advisory.

I think I’ll compromise and cook a gumbo but am I wrong for wanting one during the summer? Surely the wife is crazy.

Found a cut-up hen in my freezer last Saturday. Cooked a hen gumbo Sunday... Go for it!

Happened to me once. I'm still looking over my shoulder, expecting the hammer to fall at any moment.

I don’t cook it or crave it as often in the summer months, but I’ll still make it from time to time. It’d be one thing if I still worked outdoors, but I’m in A/C 90% of the time, so why not?

Cook the gumbo for sure. I cooked a chicken and sausage last week and everyone who said I was crazy ate the hell out of it. A good gumbo is money year round!

You're not wrong in your thinking or feeling.

I face analog when ordering coffee at a restaurant and they presume I want it iced because it's hot outside. I don't heat my beer during the winter, why would I chill coffee during the summer?

I honestly don’t see how jambalaya is any better when it’s hot out

Well your g maw, while most likely a wonderful woman and a saint, can’t cook a gumbo if that’s her final product.
