For an engagement. Not whatever your dirty minds were thinking.

I'm getting engaged later in the night (my condolences, etc), not at the restaurant, but am trying to create a mood for the evening (no, I don't want to eat at a morgue or at a proctologist's office).

We've been to Stella and she loves Le Meritage, but I'm thinking somewhere else.

Le Foret?
August?
Commander's?
Bayona?

Le Foret or August would be my rec. I lean to August.

Try something like Ruby Tuesdays - You don't want to unrealistically raise her expectations for y'alls future life together, do you?

Its been about 7 years since I've been to August and that was for lunch. I haven't been to Le Foret yet. My girl has never been to either.

Bigtsens or The Columns or if you swing the bucks, the wine cellar of the Grill Room.

You're looking for quiet and romantic, I take it?

Either. Afterwords, hit up "The Dungeon" for the actual proposal. She'll never forget you for it

So you are saying you need to find a restaurant that serves the strongest drinks and is dark.

After a nearly perfect meal at August last Wednesday, that is where I'd send you.

When I was dating my wife she was not impressed with restaurants. She flipped when I invited her to my house and cooked her a rib eye steak with steamed broccoli, wild rice and French bread.

I had a square table with barrel chairs and her dog sat in one and mine in the other. We each shared food with our dogs.

Zach, I think it's been established that your wife is the exception to all rules.

A man has to have cheese, just not in his house.

True. But it was amazing how our dogs just sat there politely and waited for their fork of food.

Her's was a Dalmation, really sweet dog but dumb as dirt. Mine was a black lab. I had already taught her table manners. Wife was impressed.

Would be my choice, but the other two are fine.

My last one was a yellow/golden love child, when I told him Bad Thibault, he knew to go to the bedroom and lie on the floor next to the bed a narrow space by the wall.
