I don't eat rolls because the true flavor of the fish is masked
I don't eat rolls with spicy anything in it. Spicy tuna is tuna that is too old to be served alone. In many cases spicy flavors are there to mask the off flavors.

If you want to be a purist about this you eat it with your hands

Why not add one more dining peccadillo?
Sure why not? It just seems that you are ignorant of the correct ways to do it so you are ill equipped to advise us on such a matter.

All 3 of these are fine with me

I do use my hands, but I use the tip of my chop stick to apply the wasabi to the fish. I find that if I use my finger to apply the wasabi, sometimes a little wasabi is left on my finger when I eat the fish and the remaining wasabi gets on the top of the fish, and the bite, to me, is ruined when I taste wasabi on both the top and bottom of the bite, if that makes any sense.

ok
That's the way I eat it as well. I thought you were using the chopsticks to eat it
I'm not sure if that's the correct application method. But I really don't care

SF DEAN, sadly, that thread was anchored. It was probably the most informative and relevant thread on the TD Food Board, but some heathens complained, I believe. Back to your point, I haven't heard of a church adding accoutrements like wasabi to the Eucharist. Where was this or are you making fun of me?

what does this have to do with your wasabi and soy sauce eating ways?
Posted on 7/19/11 at 4:24 pm to Deactived
It was in response to your comment about me having the taste buds of a god. When one is born and raised in the moveable feast that is New Orleans, and fully participates in the food culture, one takes on an appreciation for food, much in the same way the native Milanese do with fashion and the Viennese with music, that astounds outsiders.

, I use the tip of my chopstick. The correct, historical, and most enjoyable way to eat sushi or sashimi is smear a little wasabi under the fish, lightly dab the top of the fish in soy sauce and eat. When you get to your last chew, cleanse your palate with the pickled ginger.
