They just sent out an email saying the owners are closing shop. It might be that they are selling to another or something like that, but the owners are done with the restaurant.

I really liked what they tried to do recently with hiring chef Pete and going for something different.

Wow. The WWL food critic just reviewed them yesterday. Four stars. I was hoping to try it out sometime soon.

The word on the street has been they were looking to take the food they were doing at Mimi's back into the city proper. Just could not really change enough red sauce fans minds to eat sweetbreads.

Freret is a rumor. I hope it is true

The old Frank's needs a tenant. That would be awesome.

Is that building owned by the Barrecca's?

I recall maybe a City Business Article about a year ago which said Barrecca family (sp?) owned most of the property on Freret and they werent selling or reltting until they felt they could get top dollar. And this was causing delays in revitalization efforts.

I don't know. But, that building needs revitalization. Frank's had some pretty good old school Italian food and decent steaks.

Agree.
I ate there three times and loved it each time. Too many blue hairs in the immediate area I guess. It seems that anyone I know from that area that wants gourmet or high end food just goes to the city.

Good news is they proved Pete's food has a huge audience willing to drive to get it. If it is more accessible (as in around the block) they have a winning formula ready to go.

People who like food want to eat the food he cooks.

That explains the running out of specials/ menu items post on here not too long ago. I figured there had to be something up for that sort of thing to happen there.

Smart business move if they get into the city.

I know on some other boards PeteV has been quite vocal about the frustration of the diners they encountered.

Sucks for the Ridge. Where does one eat there, besides Hillbilly and Charles?

Wish he would move to MidCity or Lakeview for personal, selfish reasons...but Freret makes sense.

Charlie's is in Harahan

Bobby's Seafood is in the Ridge, though. They also have a Rotolo's and Mama Rosa's. Winner's on Sauve and Hickory

The options are slim. Especially for dinner.

Lakeview

Aint going to Lakeview unless they want to repeat RR. Not blue hairs, but families who want chicken tenders for kid, sushi for wife, red sauce for dad. See also why Mondo has been successful.

Rotolos, Bobby's Seafood, and Frost Top

Charles is actually in Harahan!! Hilbilly will soon be too, technically.
