Yesterday I contacted Snake River Farms to resupply my freezer with a few of their meats. Ground beef sold out, ground pork sold out, tenderloins grade selection down to one, other items not available. SRF stated the national media has caused their regular customers to buy in larger quantities due to Covid 19 plant closures.

Thought I would share my experience in case the next time at the grocery, you might want to buy heavier on your favorite meats.

Or you could NOT hoard meat, leaving more in the stores to go around.

My kroger was full of meat the other day. Hell, they had surplus of ground meat and I got it for $1/lb. I don't even normally buy ground meat, but I couldn't pass it up at that price.

A few weeks ago I couldn’t find chicken wings, Now they’re plentiful. Plenty of ground beef too.

So because one farm that sells online across the country is out, the entire supply lines will run dry?

Lol okay.

Same. And they had 75¢ milk gallons that were 9 days out on expiration.

Friend,

I honestly do not like Snake River Farms beef. Father was given a large batch of it last year and he didn’t like it so he passed it to my freezer. I made TulaneLSU cheesesteaks and thought beef from Dorignacs would have been better.

Snake River Farms beef is the Mercedes of the beef world: highly acclaimed by the insecure trying to flaunt moderate wealth, yet lacking quality in every way.

Yours,

You want ground pork, go to the store and buy Boston butts and grind them. They are selling for $.88 and $.99 a lb. in the N.O. area right now at a couple stores.

One store advertised in today's paper whole fryers for $.49 a lb.

Kroger here is limiting ground beef to two per customer.
Chicken is plentiful and cheaper.

We went to BJ's yesterday (it's a wholesale club up here, like Costco or Sam's), and there was not a single chicken product left in the cooler.

Luckily, we were there for discounted vodka and not meat, but it kind of blew my mind that a gigantic, members-only store was completely out of chicken. They had limits on it, too! Wild.

My neighborhood groceries haven't been out of meat in general, but it's limited and I haven't been able to find a damn chicken thigh anywhere but the Asian market in months.

I'm gonna be pissed if I can't get my proteins.

Why are you buying from Snake River Farms when you can probably find much better quality meat for a better price from a local farmer?

We just split a whole cow from a local farmer with the in laws. We have a freezer full and shouldn't have to buy red meat for a while. Great tasting too.
