Does anyone else think this place sucks as much as I do?
Everyone I know raves about this place, so I finally went, and was underwhelmed very badly.
I ordered a sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes, and a drink that cost $10.
And when I finally got my order, it was a small 5 inch sandwich, and a small ramekin of mashed potatoes.
After finishing, I was still hungry.
The sandwich itself tasted good, but for that price I better get a footlong size, or something, not some measly 5 inch sub.
Never going back, portion sizes are way too small. But I guess that is the appeal, paying ridiculous prices for small portions, a hit with the health & fitness/female crowd.

Hey look, this guy is bitching about something. I'm shocked.

Here's the recipe for their chili. Place is rotten.

I do agree that the place is overpriced...it very successfully targets upper middle classed folks who will pay for decor of the place...
however, you should try it again...order "spud max" or "the big nasty" and I garantee you will like it...

It's very underwhelming. I'm not a fan.
Why any one go to the one on Perkins when Maxwells Market is a little ways down the road is beyond me.

You better watch out...that's fine dining in Mississippi!

Mostly a chick place. Kitschy decor, high price, small portions. Women flock to that combination (see La Madeleine).
Every time I've been I ask myself, 'why did you just pay $10 for a $4 sandwich?'

The baked potatoes are huge as are the wraps. I don't love the place but I always leave full

I like it. There's on here in town. The corned beef on sourdough is awesome.

Yep. Have to take what you have here in Lake Charles. We don't get all the other places because of the way city developers are. But another topic for another thread.
We did get a Jason's deli recently though. We had one 30 years ago and it was great. I'd like to try it again. I remember their corned beef sandwiches being really good.
One thing I don't like about McCalister's is the amount you get of side orders. You hardly get anything.
But, such is LC. Grin and bear it, I guess.

If someone could provide a legit recipe for thechicken tortilla soup, i would never go back to a mcallisters again.
That soup makes my knees weak.
