BATON ROUGE - Mason's Grill, a popular Baton Rouge brunch spot, has changed ownership after 24 years.
Mike and Shirlee Alfandre have sold the Jefferson Highway restaurant they created to Rober and Christina Alamirie.
The Alfandres announced the change on social media Thursday, thanking customers for decades of support. They said they wanted to ensure that the restaurant remained in local hands.
"We have so much to thank you for. We had so many things we wanted to include in this post, but it’s harder to type than we thought. It’s bittersweet. So, we’ll leave it at this. Thank you, Baton Rouge! You have always been there to support us—through good times and bad. Thank you for making us a part of your family and for becoming a part of ours. And, to our regular customers and our crew, you have no idea how special you are to us, truly. We are so grateful to you. We love you all so much!"
During Sunday brunch, WBRZ spoke to the new owner, Rober Alamirie, about what changes customers can expect to see. For the most part, he says he plans to keep the changes to a minimum.
“My wife is an interior designer so we may do a few touches here and there but mainly we want to keep it as is. The menu will stay the same," said Alamirie. Alamirie added, he plans to add weekly specials to the menu that will feature different types of local Louisiana cuisine.

I’ve lived all over that area for 11 years and only been there 3 or 4 times.

I’ve only been to Mason’s once. It gave me the vibe that it’s full of broke arse locals that live each week to go to Masons on the weekend.

I appreciated the fact that the wife and I had a decent meal and drinks for 40 dollars the other day.

I enjoy Masons nothing life changing but decent food at reasonable prices

If I remember correctly, they had a shrimp burger that won several awards and was highly acclaimed. This would have been around 2010 or so.

Personally I think the food is meh. It was always hyped up to me and it has been overrated each time I’ve gone.

This place was awesome. Mike and Shirlee were the best - seriously. I wish the new owners all the best!

It's terrible. It gained popularity because magazines could make it sound great...Cajun and shrimp.

It was never terrible. I ate it a few times back in the early 2010s and it was a damn good burger at the time.

He's just mad cause he got owned on the brisket thread below.
I've had the shrimp burger, it was solid. The whole restaurant and bar need a face lift though, IMO

I think at one time, it seemed to have a near monopoly on Sunday brunch/bottomless mimosas in BR, but that's no longer the case. Crazy they still regularly go on an hour+ wait on Sundays when there are so many places doing brunch now.
If I lived in the area I'm sure I'd like it more, but for me it isn't worth the 20+ minute drive.

CSB I was there one time and a lady came out the bathroom yelling to speak to a manager. Apparently there was a lady bangin rails of coke off the baby changing table at 9:30am
ETA: As LL said above, the wait is always insane. It’s good, but not worth an hour+ wait imo

When I lived on that side of town, we used to hit up wing night almost every week. They only served this particular buffalo ranch seasoned wing I loved only on that night. I tried to order them on a regular (non-wing day) night, and they wouldn’t sell them to me lol

I don't know if they still have it but I loved Mason's happy hour when I lived in the area. Half price everything.

I enjoyed Masons, been there a handful of times. Not usually a person who enjoys brunch, but theirs was also pretty good.

Seems every place has a long wait for them now... mid City Beer Garden, Olive or Twist, OverPass, etc...

It was a damn tasty burger... I'd often get that one even if I was there for brunch.
