I haven’t had any donut that beats a fresh hot glazed donut from Mary Lee. Not just in BR, I mean anywhere.

This, 100%. Nothing else beats a hot glazed Mary Lee. They're so light and airy. I could eat 10.

Yep. Love a fresh Mary Lee glazed.

Port Allen Bakery is another great choice.

A vendor dropped off an unmarked white box of glazed a couple months ago. They were as good as Mary Lee's (I hate to even say that). I have no idea where they came from. The only thing on the box was a business card.

I will still go to Mary Lee's every time, though.

As a Houma baw I had hoped Ronnie's could find a footing in the area, but it was hard to with competition like Mary Lee's.

I've come to think of Mary Lee to be the average standard donut. I've never been wowed by them nor disappointed. Still can't beat fresh hot Krispy Kremes from Plank.

As far as new donut shops, Shipleys has opened in BR, but I've never been.

We have a Mary Lee’s in Covington. Butter Krisp is still the best glazed donut around. Soft, pillowy, a little texture, and not too gummy or overly glazed. Always fresh when you order a dozen. Puts Kristy Kreme to shame as well IMO. Perfect.

Good Morning Donut on Cedarcrest and Airline are better than Mary Lee

Town Donuts in Central are also better

In the same vein as Good morning Donuts on Cedarcrest, is Junust Donuts on Sharp at Fla Blvd, very good when hot off the line, and good jalapeno boudin kolaches too.

Enjoyed Shipleys when living Texas, but found the ones from the Essen location very dry.

ronnies is extremely overrated

Or maybe it was just the Baton Rouge location wasn’t very good

I found this to be true. The BR location didn’t impress me at all. Never been to any other locations.

Last time I went to Mary Lee and ordered a dozen of hot glaze they put them in a white unmarked box.

This is the only explanation that makes sense

most of the places I’ve gone to recently used white unmarked boxes - including Good Morning Donut when I went this morning

Port Allen Bakery's glazed are very similar to Mary Lee and usually came in a plain white box.

I'm a donut connoisseur and the best I've found is Donut Palace in Gonzales. Good Morning Donuts on Airline @ Cedarcrest is also good.

...and I agree about Ronnie's -- those things were like glazed bricks

I really like Lucky Morning Donuts on Nicholson. But I'm not going out of my way to go there over Mary Lee. Now their boudin kolache? That's worth the drive.
