Although, Blackened Out's suggestions would be my 1 & 2 choices for out of towners as well -- Maurepas certainly fits within the "Marigny area" designation, if not technically IN Marigny.

Your suggestions were great. Love Three Muses steak and cake and Maurepas has a very eclectic menu that deserves to be looked at and experienced. Dishes are a little nouveau but tasty in a relaxed atmosphere. Great service as well. Maurepas has the better menu and service but Three Muses has a better atmosphere for visitors IMO.

I would add Adolfo's (which was mentioned before) for quintessential Creole Italian. Marigny Brasserie is not as good as it used to be but still very solid IMO. And if you wanted something a little Pan-American Mojitos does some nice dishes as well( I like the Patio). Haven't been to Melange yet but have heard very good things.

Bywater and Marigny are close enough. These people are from out of town, Burt, it's not like they will refuse to step foot in the Bywater because it's technically not the Marigny or whatever.

by saying they were "=" i didnt mean they were they same.

im pretty sure the city zoning commission refers to that large area as the bywater(which includes neighborhoods like St Roch, Marigny, Florida/Desire, Musicians villiage, etc.)

could be wrong.

regardless, thread said "marigny area" . if you confine him to just the marigny, you're pretty limited. though there is good food there

For the purposes at hand, the recommendations were spot on. Don't be that guy.
