Does Gordon Biersch own that property and the Mannings are renting it?
Developments like that do have contract stipulations and such. One owner or a LLC, etc probably does own that whole area of Fulton St.
I've heard rumors of that being the case with how Perkins Row was in the beginning and other similiar developments.

gotcha. I was thinking for some reason that the city owned that piece of property.

I won't waste my time trying this place out

I'm assuming that Gordon Biersch has a clause in their lease that prohibits another sports bar type of operation serving draft on Fulton.
That is hyper technical language and sticky lawyering if so. Plus they are missing the fact that Grand Isle serves draft beer. Not having draft beer is but one of this place's problems it will have to overcome.

I think Harrah's has overestimated the appeal that the Mannings' name has, at least locally. Archie played for the Saints way too long ago, and the franchise has overcome the lovable loser moniker that it had when he payed here. If they are trading on the kids' names, may have been better to name it Eli's or Peyton's Place.

It's pretty standard -- especially in master planned developments like this. Gordon is pretty much an upscale sports bar around their back bar area. In all fairness Gordon was their for a long time before Manning's. I'm just assuming that they have a deal that another sports type of eatery can't have draft, not that other eateries in general can't have draft.

I'm hoping that it is a contract situation and not some BS because Mannings Mgmt is just lazy and doesn't want to deal with the keg issue and cleaning lines, etc.

A huge problem IMO.
Nice to see you post BO..

If a)you had any worldly experience, b) had done any research or d) knew in general what the hell you were talking about, your posts wouldn't be as forgettable as they are. But I mean that with all due respect.
The Mannings, for the most part, merely licensed the name to Harrah's for the restaurant and have little if anything to do with its actual operation. Archie, Olivia, Cooper, Peyton and Eli didn't get struck by lightning and decide to go into the restaurant business.
The food is not as inexpensive as, say, Walk On's, but, on the other hand, it is not as crappy a restaurant and bar either.
It is a Harrah's operation in a prime location and they are minting money at the place. I have no interest in the operation one way or the other, but I'm pretty sure it's going to do fine.
ETA: I apologize for being so harsh, but you lost me at "Anyways".

Aren't you on record as saying you think this place will "kill it"?
Frankly, to me at least, the place has seemed like an ill-conceived boondoggle from its very conception.
I'm not wishing them any ill, either.

Yes, and they probably will. The decision of Harrah's to have no local beers on tap is a huge fail IMO.

Somebody's a little grouchy tonight.

In spite of my shitty, argumentative mood, I agree with this.

I think the place will make it, but it will do so without me. Just not my kind of place, though I can't swear I wouldn't go there just to watch a game and have a few drinks. I don't drink beer, so the draft thing isn't a problem for me.

A) You are so right. I have zero "worldly" experience. In fact, I've never left the United States! You know so much about me, thanks for reminding me!
B) If I truly cared about the Mannings and what they do with their name, their businesses, or anything about them, I probably would have done some research. If the food had been fantastic I probably would have come home and done research to see if they have loaned their name to any other dining establishments. However, due to the fact that all 5 of my other dining partners concluded that they would not eat there again, I did not find it necessary to waste any more time on it.
C) You skipped "C"
D) The purpose of the original post was to give F&D Board posters a review of a new restaurant in New Orleans. I know what I am talking about because I dined there this past Saturday. Everything I said is the truth.
Sorry. Didn't know I was trying to be remembered.
I have no problem paying for expensive food as long as it is good.
I don't know what I did to you to cause such a hateful response. ANYWAYS, I hope you enjoy eating at Manning's.
eta: After a quick search of VOR posts (since I had never heard of him before), I discovered most of his posts are arrogant, rude and negative. Bless his heart.

It was way too expensive for a lunch at a sports bar. The Pepsi products were another strike, as well as no draft beer.
I've heard the expensive part... but Pepsi? No draft?

Harrahs (Caesars) is a national contract. No choice there.
I'm alright with no draft. Their selection of bottled craft beer is pretty damn good. I really like that Southern Pecan.
Price was fine with me. The braised short ribs over the jambalaya was solid!

Oh yeah, I can get that on draft at Bulldog for 4 bucks.
