You aren’t looking hard enough. I’ve never ate that trash you’re talking about and I know 6 different places in SWLA that make better sausage, excluding myself.
Rabideauxs
Market basket
Sonnier’s
Sausage Link
Hollier’s
Hacketts
No particular order there.

I'm gonna look for it.

Well if you've never eaten that trash I like, how do you know it sucks?
Anyway, I'm talking about mass produced stuff. Not the small batch local sausage you get at independent meat markets and such.
If you've never tried conecuh, you really should. It's good stuff and it's at it's best in gumbo and red beans and rice.

I look for verons and if they don’t have it I grab richards

Color me confused.

This is the only Conecuh sausage I buy.
It’s better than the thin links.

Conecuh is very greasy and has a strong smell and flavor. Do yourself a favor and buy from Teets in Ville Platte online. They ship vacuum sealed. Their pure pork smoked sausage is off the charts good!

Down home is best mass market sausage to me if you aren’t going to get a Cajun sausage. Conecuh is way too greasy

Down Home is no doubt the best available in NWLA.

Wut. Read that out loud to yourself and tell us again if it makes sense.
I find it interesting that OP bought it locally in Oregon because it’s apparently popular enough to sell in other parts of the country, but some stuff that never makes it out of one small area of one state is better. Just because one grows up on a certain thing that they prefer, doesn’t mean it’s best to the mass market.

McDonald’s has locations all over the world....does that make it better than a local burger joint?

If you live anywhere near Lafayette then there are at least a couple dozen local shops that will put any mass produced packaged brand to shame.

Define better? Faster, more convenient, more consistent, many more sold, etc.
People can shite on a Mcdonalds burger all they want, but they have sold billions of burgers.
The guy is in Oregon. Talking about how some local butcher shop in Louisiana makes better sausage is a stupid argument.
Louisiana sausage is generally very good, but the idea that only good sausage is made in Louisiana like this board loves to argue is laughable.

My experience is that good ingredients make better product. I have had andouille from Otto's Sausage Kitchen in Portland, and it was damn good. They make it onsite, and it tastes great. No need to spend all that extra money to ship it cross country.

It's a damn good thing we dont all have the same taste buds there would only be one brand and life would be boring.
I grew up near Opelousas and love sausages from there SAvois and Richards. Moving over here to the west bank I love Martins, verons, and almost any stores variety. I have had conecah several times and meh its ok but not for em I do not care for the flavor. I aint saying Cajun is the best its just what I grew up eating and I aint found any to comapre.

What do you consider “LA sausage”? Louisiana is home to the most notable boudin and andouille cities in the US, directly related to the French/Cajun settlers. Is it really a crazy notion? Where are the other artisanal sausage shops located throughout the country making boudin or andouille? You don’t have to go far in La to get high quality versions of either
Have you ever seen a bastardization of boudin or andouille elsewhere in the US these people can’t even pronounce them much less make a version that holds up to what you can find in Laplace or Scott

Sounds like you prefer small batch, locally made product. That's kind of what I'm saying. Authenticity and taste can be subjective. We like what we like.
