Most of the stuff you see in box stores are cheap steel steel- king kooker, Bayou Classic, etc.

I am looking for something well made with a good burner allowing flame control- fry fish, jambalaya, general outdoor cooking

Can you recommend a good source?

I have the 4 gallon RV fryer. Controlling the temp is fairly easy.

When you get 4.5-5 gallons to fry temperatures, you can barely notice a drop when you lower a basket in.

Not sure if they will have the rodeo this year, but you can pick up a well made two basket, 5 gallon fryer for less than $300 at the Angola Rodeo arts and crafts area.

If you are rolling food through it, its easy. If you are just sitting there with nothing going in and out it can over heat. Once you get in the rhythm its non stop perfect fry temps.

You can also get them in aluminum. I am selling my regular 4 gallon and have one of those on order. I just dont care for all the rust on the regular....you cant paint it but I just want aluminum and be done with it.

The burner tube is 1/4 in, but the top and sides are thinner. It’s all welded though. Nothing was stamped.

Buy a 20qt lodge cast iron pot. Holds heat and fries everything well.

Buy a standup burner from Krazy Kajun in St Amant. He hand makes everything. He probably sells mesh dippers and baskets that may fit the lodge.

I highly recommend RV Cajun fryers. Especially the aluminum model. I had the regular black one originally but the surface rust bothered me so I sold it and got the aluminum 4 gallon(both from NOLAGT ). No regerts, it’s a frying machine for sure

Yep. The finish they put on the black one sucks... few people I know who have them keep them in sheds 24/7 and they’re still rusted. For the price they charge for these things, they should not be rusting that easy.

Stine sells the R&V fryer. Sometimes they go on sale. Got my 4 gallon for $350. Will eventually get the aluminum.
