Headed to London this summer and the research on places to eat is overwhelming. So much good food.
Would love any personal experiences on places. Anything from good coffee shops, to pubs, to fine dining.
TIA.

My favorite is Rules, a beautiful, old, historic place with delicious food and a nice cocktail lounge upstairs. Scott's in Mayfair is a very good upscale seafood restaurant.

Make a little time for Borough Market, a historic indoor food market, with a companion open air section of cooked food vendors. It’s a great stop for a weekday lunch, then you can walk off your lunch on the South Bank’s promenade along the Thames. Everything from paella cooked in huge pans to artisanal Scotch eggs, doughnuts, a huge array of foods from around the world....

Wow that’s a really cool tip. Thank you.

Another good & interesting food area is Bermondsey Street, also on the South Bank. There’s a Bermondsey beer mile—10 breweries in one mile, plus pop up food markets, shops, etc.

I always liked this place and ate there a lot when I was going to London. Haven't been in a few years. Noisy Italian place with animated waiters. Good part of town.
Another nearby place is Amaya. Very upscale Indian. Has a Michelin star I think.

Take a river taxi down to Greenwich in the morning and eat breakfast at Heaps.
Hike up to the observatory and then go back down and through the Maritime Museum.
It's a pretty good break from a normal tourist day in London.

I second all of this. The market was pretty cool as well

For sure a fun way to spend a couple hours. They had many food booths, including an oyster bar where I had my first sea urchin. There was even a "Louisiana BBQ" stand. They slap Louisiana on the most random things, like a burrito at the Museum Tavern pub.
More good food can be found at the Portobello Road street market. It's focused on Fri and Sat. Chicks know this part of town from the Notting Hill movie. The wife wanted to go to shop, so I begrudgingly agreed. Turned out to have some great international food booths and specialty shops along the route.
Greenwich also has a market with food booths. Not worth a special trip just for it, but if you get down there anyway check it out.
If you like Indian, head to Brick Lane and have a curry from one of the tons of restaurants there. It's an experience.

Get there early as the line gets going pretty quick. I was lucky and went solo and got a spot at a bar and got to chat it up with a cute Brazilian woman all night. Check out the Harry Potter train station while you're there.

There are five locations of Dishoom....
Here's a suggestion for old school Brit food: pie and mash (meat pie and mashed potatoes), with jellied eels as a side. M. Manze is the oldest remaining shop in London, located not too far from the intersection of Bermondsey St and Tower Bridge Rd (borough of Southwark). Website here: LINK
