So I'm finally getting around to planning the itinerary for this trip and a lot of these suggestions have been incredibly helpful. Thought I would bump it to see if anyone else has some suggestions rather than start a new thread.
FWIW we will be there from 7/3-7/8 and will spend one day out at the courts at Wimbledon.
Thanks to all who have already posted and TIA for those who will.

I’ll be there all next week and know for sure we’ll be eating at Dishoom Shoreditch, Blacklock City, Golden Union, Lobos Tapas and hitting up Craft Beer Co. I’ll post an update after I try them out along with wherever else we go.

Was there 2 weeks ago and had a great breakfast at St John Bread & Wine (the bacon sandwich and devilled kidneys on toast were both incredible) and walked it off afterwards in the Old Spitalfields market across the street. Also really enjoyed the Borough Market on a Saturday morning. The high point among many was some of the best scallops I've ever tasted grilled up at one of the seafood stands. Oh, and do a high tea somewhere (we did the Wolsely), it just seems right when you're there... Enjoy!

Check out the Hung, Drawn and Quartered Pub near the Tower.

Probably a dumb question, but at a "nicer" restaurant (not necessarily a 3MS place) for dinner, what would the typical dress code be? Coat? Coat and tie?

I've spent a lot of time in London and have never worn a tie anywhere. Admittedly, I've never been to any of the fancy clubs.

I’m thinking dinners like maybe St. John Bread and Wine or going to the theater. Nice, but not over the top fancy.

Plenty of coat and tie seen on City financial types, but also plenty of coats, no tie....and collared shirts no tie in better places.
St John in any form is a wonderful thing. A rare beef heart dish @st John might have been the best single thing I ate in 2017.

Excellent info thank you.
It keeps popping up so it’s been on my list but I watched No Reservaions when he went to London for inspiration last night and it was the first place Bourdain went. He described it as one of his favorite places in the world. That pretty much sealed it.

The original (Smithfield) is a very spare, plain space....and the food is similarly straightforward, unadorned. A few principal flavors in a dish usually in a dish with a single focus. Not a layered, lush, complex style—elemental, basic, delicious nonetheless. I’m too lazy to dredge up pics from my last visit, but if you image search and look at the food on the plate, you’ll see what I mean. If you can go with a few people, I think it improves the experience, as you can taste a bigger variety of things.
If you’re closer to SJ/B&W, definitely do that....even at breakfast. Bacon sandwich.....

So between Smithfield and Bread and Wine, which would you recommend? it's only going to be 2 of us.

Bump for update—ate all over the place—Beijing Dumpling in Chinatown, Cinnamon Brick Lane (Indian), Brewdog at Tower Hill, Breakfast and Burgers near Leadenhall Market, but my favorites were Dishoom Shoreditch and Blacklock City. Blacklock was a straight up awesome meat-bomb experience, so make sure to take your Lipitor. Dishoom didn’t accept reservations, and the wait was about an hour, but the bartender made the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had while we waited. Food there was great as well, especially the lamb raan.

If you go to St. John Smithfield the bone marrow is a must
