Trying to pick out a range for the new house. Want a 48” pro-style range w/ 6 burners, a griddle, and 2 ovens. While I don’t need all the bells and whistles of one of the big names, I don’t want to get a lower priced one and regret it. My requirements are it needs to look good, work, and last. All mechanical is fine (no screens, timers, etc.). Please share your experiences/insights on these brands

From what I can tell there’s about three tiers for this size. Upper, mid, and lower.

Upper (>$9k):
Wolf
Viking
Thermadore
Jenn Air
Bluestar
Monogram

Mid ($6k-$9k):
Supiore
5Star
Heartland
Capital
American Range
Bertazzoni
Ilve
DCS

Lower ($4k-$6k):
Thor
NXT
Smeg
Z Line
Kucht

(some have models in different price ranges but this is where most are)

I don’t need the name brand, like I said: work, look good, last. What worries me about the lower tier is that they may be complete crap.

Bertazzoni

This is what came in my house when I bought it. Good quality, but can be "quirky", especially getting the oven lit.

And I recommend "dual fuel" all the way. I'm not a fan of gas ovens at all.

I’m near the end of a new build. I bought this guy. Looks bad arse and saving some cash compared to a Wolf or a Viking. It’s a 36” but I believe their 48” in the line is pretty nice too.

Kitchenaid 36”

Consider an induction cooktop.

They're amazing.

I just bought a new gas range(went with a shitty GE one because we only plan on being in this house another 5-6 years) and our install guy pleaded with us not get a Kitchen Aid. He said they are a PITA to install.

Team BlueStar checking in. 30", all gas, four burner: 2 22K BTUs in the front, one 12K and one ultra low simmer in the back. Oven's wide enough for a full sheet pan, even in the 30" model.

I picked BS because I wanted long-term durability, zero electronics, and high BTUs. Looked at everything on your list, plus some more. BlueStar won for me, hands down. Going on 5 years of pretty heavy use. I've replaced one igniter with nothing more than a phillips screwdriver (range came w/2 spares) and the oven igniter (burned out due to house cleaner's overzealous use of oven cleaning spray).

Might I ask why you need/want 48"? You can get 6 burners in a 36" BlueStar that costs $4,200 from AJ Madison: LINK

Finally, you want a vent hood that overhangs the stove by AT LEAST 3" on either side, so make sure you have room & budget for a decent hood. High BTU output stoves really, really need a good hood.

I don't feel like they are the same since being acquired by Middleby.

I have one, but if/when we redo our kitchen, I would not acquire another one.

I second BlueStar, the local rep for my area responded to me when I had questions. As stated in the other post if you take on a range like one of the ones you posted do your homework on the hood. We went with an external blower to minimize the noise, that may not be the look everyone wants but it works for us.

I built a new house last year, and we have a Thermador gas range and electric wall oven. No complaints here, you get what you pay for.

We gutted our kitchen 5 years ago and went Thermador for all appliances. No complaints and we got at least on piece (thinking the DW) free. They look great and work great.

I think I've decided on Thermador for my kitchen bc I want a 48" dual fuel. Unless something changes between now and when I do my renovations next year, that is what it will be.

You're right, I forgot about the DW. We got it for free as well. Quietest dishwasher I have ever seen/heard.

I was all set to buy a DCS. Buddy has one and has had zero issues over seven or eight years. I did all the research and was set on it. Right before I pulled the trigger, a friend decided to remodel her kitchen and sold me a Jenn Air for a price I couldn’t refuse.

I bought a kitchenaid a couple years ago when they updated the line. Paid about 2k for it I think. I like it.... but I don’t care for the burners that much. They are easy to clean and what not, but, the flame flares out a good bit. I don’t have an issue with the gas oven, it is a convection one. Seems to cook well.... although my extent of using the oven is roasting potatoes and meat for the most part.
