Shady Maple is the largest buffet in the USA and is located in the middle of Amish country in East Earl, PA. It is literally surrounded by miles of farmland. I visit Lehigh a few times a year. Each visit, I always make it to Shady Maple before I leave.

I’ve seen the pics of dishes from posters that we ooh and aah over. Half of them look terrible because of the photos.
You can’t tell anything by those pics.

Being that it’s located in rural PA, and with how buffet food generally is dumbed down, I wouldn’t hold out hope that the food would be very good.

And not one bit of seasoning to be found in that entire place!

I've eaten there enough to know what's good. If they have prime rib, I'm at that carving station first. If not, I'll get a ribeye or New York steak. Then I head over to the seafood bar. Crab legs, prawns, scallops, and sometimes they have lobster.

Don't knock it until you've tried it. Their food ain't bad for buffet food. Check out some YouTube reviews on the food. Their mac and cheese score 10/10 from most diners. Their crab cakes are terrible, too mushy. So are their hush puppies.

Friend,

I would love to make a Food Board trip here. Perhaps when I get a new vehicle for the TulaneLSU Poorboy Tours (Mother sold my F350 tour van last year without telling me), we could do a multiday trip. It looks delicious.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

P.S. Mother doesn’t eat Jello. I don’t think either of us has had Jello since an unfortunate incident in the now torn down Piccadilly that was down the road from Ochsner.

As someone that went many times to the Piccadilly inside the old Hammond Square as a child I could see it happening.

Nothing says America like lilly white midwesterners gorging on a buffet run by Asians.

Yep. Montreal Seasoning. There's definitely worse ways to season a steak.
