Adopted Dog Brewing has announced on Facebook that they will open Feb. 1 at 329 Dulles Drive in Lafayette.

Owner Ryan Pécot says the excitement and hype for the new brewery is like nothing he's experienced before.

The new brewery will offer a variety of craft beer, brewed in-house, including blonds, IPAs, porters, stouts, root beer and Athletic's nonalcoholic craft beer — they'll also carry a small variety of liquor and wine. As the name suggests, the brewery is dog friendly.

One of the goals for owners Ryan and Traci Pécot is to create a dog-friendly establishment. The couple has two adopted dogs of their own and say they have plans to work with local rescues and adoption agencies in the future, as well as host adoption events.

Plans are also underway for a variety of food options at the new brewery — with a menu featuring burgers, flatbreads, salads, appetizers and more. Other menu items listed on the website include pulled pork nachos, fried cheese curds, pepperoni, veggie and Italian flatbreads, southern fried fish and chips and fried pretzel bites.

Anyone else check it out yet? We went this weekend, the beer wasn't bad at all, burgers and cheese curds were great. It's a few minutes from our house so we'll be regulars.

Cute idea but how long will this last ? It's in a college/school location and will outprice broke college kids. Not many people want to go eat in a place full of pets after the novelty wears off. An outdoor location would be more suitable, but not in this area with our miserable weather 6 months out of the year. The Pecot boys are good people and I hope it makes it, just don't see it ?

The terrible weather to eat outside meme is either vastly overblown or trotted out by fatties/anorexics. Louisiana weather is so schizophrenic that I doubt a month passes that I don't eat outside at least a few times, and that includes June/July/Aug and Dec/Jan/Feb. And bonus points to restaurants with shade and/or heaters.

full time A/C has made everyone soft. We eat outside all year long and seek out places with outdoor drinking/dining. We need more of it

man was meant to be outside

This is a fantastic idea. Perfect for those of us who want to avoid socializing with a bunch of dumb dogs and people who think it's a good idea to bring their dumb dog into a public setting.

I brought my family, it was fun. Kids weren't really digging all of the dogs, so if I go back it will be solo or with friends. Probably a good idea for when people start bringing their rescued pit bulls.

But I enjoyed the beer, food, and atmosphere. Still don't like the name of the brewery though, just feels so weird saying it.

people like their dogs and enjoy giving them an outing. Not really hard to get your mind around.

funny. I feel the exact same way about children in restaurants and bar areas of restaurants. Get them the frick out of here. I aint crazy about the dogs either, but I'd rather them than some snotnosed, ill-mannered turd of a child whose clueless parents are ignoring.

I hate the name

I'm assuming once the shine wears off there will be less dogs, they also aren't allowed inside, so I guess that's an option if you want to be away from that.

Also, for those wondering the outdoor seating/tables are all covered and there's fans that move a good bit of air that should make it bearable when it gets warmer.

I've heard good things about this place, but I can't see myself driving to that side of town for it. I can't imagine it's going to be as good as Parish and I don't drive there either

Not really. I just don’t think your kids are as wonderful as you do. Like someone’s pets, leave them at home.

I'm not a dog person at all and avoid all places that are dog friendly when I can help it.

How is that location considered a "college/school" location?

I went recently and thought it was a cool atmosphere. We sat inside to watch the LSU game at the bar and I didn't even notice any dogs. There is a cool arcade area that kids can play in. Burger and flight of beer was solid. Beer won't win any awards, but it's pretty good. And I'm sure it'll only get better as they gain experience brewing in the new equipment.
