I own one and don’t use it nearly enough
same.

i'm lazy af and really only pull it out when i buy bulk steaks or seafood and want to seal some up to sous vide later.

if i'm storing leftovers, i just use a ziploc and then i get freezer burn.

ok my luxury items which i can't live without now

- aga induction range w/ oven. that oven is the best damn oven i've ever used..EVER

- meater+ (bougie, but wife got it for me and i love using it for temps)

- delonghi dinamica+ automated coffee machine (SUPER BOUGIE but i haven't darkened the door of a coffee shop in 2 years

- old school mouli..beat up but come holiday season i wear that thing out

- PARCHMENT PAPER!!!! my wife has a couple HUGE ones leftover from her last food truck and you put that down before baking cookies, biscuits, etc and when you take the food out, lift it off and the metal pan goes right back in the cabinet. NO WASHING EVER.

We use vacuum sealer several times a week.

That's insane. I have one. I hunt and fish. I also have a family of 5. I buy in bulk.

Vacuum sealers are great for certain things, but generally speaking there's nothing wrong with just freezing meat in a freezer bag if you are going to eat it in 3-4 months.

A lot of my deer I'll wrap in plastic wrap and then butcher paper. Its way faster and cheaper than vacuum sealers.

The only time I vacuum seal is if I have a lot of wild game ( then I only do about 1/3 of it as the rest I eat sooner), sous vid, or some other random use.

ETA: The oil sprayer in the OP are great. Use it almost daily. AIr fryer, thermo pen, etc. most of which have been covered on it.

A thin spatula and really good set of tongs are also very under rated

freeze drier no question

While not for most, I've had my freeze dryer for 3 years now. I'm only running it about every other month now. Primarily used for making backpacking meals, and gifts at Christmas. Wife does a lot of skittles and candies for her coworkers.

Moneywise, I *might* have broke even by now, quality-wise my backpacking and camping meals are 5 star.

How well has this done long term? I've found items with sausage (specifically Red Beans & Rice) spoiled, I believe because of the sausage. I've avoided using sausage since then, but I might try again, after cutting the sausage thinner and browning much longer to render the fat out of it.

The fat is what holds moisture. Difficult to remove with sublimation alone. Rendering with heat should work...

I freeze dried two trays of it as an experiment and put two discs each in Mylar bags with an oxygen absorber, so far so good but it’s only been a month. I reconstituted one bag the other day just to see and it was fine. I did slice the sausage thin though

dicing the sausage might be better

We got one of these as a wedding gift and pretty much any sandwich made in our kitchen since then passes through for a few minutes.

Mesh strainers and a nice box grater were instant upgrades.

This sharpener is idiot proof and gets all our blades back to sharp enough in 5-7 passes.

I only use foil for covering things now.

Anything that goes into the oven has parchment paper under it.

Nothing. And I mean nothing, sticks to it.

I have all kinds of gadgets that I love (many mentioned here already) but the only one I use daily is the oil sprayer.
