Don't care what anyone says, Dong Phoung cream cheese is the best king cake in the history of cake cakes and would be the one I would try to hunt down before leaving. King cake's are not usually described as sublime, but that's how I'd describe DP.

Go to Zuppardo’s in Metairie.

Great selection.

Haydels. I like their cream cheese.
At this point it is about which one you don’t have to wait in line for.

Haydel's traditional is terrible! Rouses has more flavor and less sugar crystals.

Dong Phuong are sold at various places hit up their website for where and also days when you can walk up and buy from them. Amore Cafe in Gretna has them and announces when they are arriving. Zuppardos does too but no idea when they get theirs.

Dong Phuong cream cheese is my vote. Still haven't had a better one than that one. If you can't find it, just get her a cream cheese from Delicious Donuts in LC. Childhood GOAT

I’ll have to agree….Dong Phuong is the best in Nola and it’s not even close. There’s a reason they’re sold out everywhere within the hour.

Love a Dong Phong cream cheese. Tartine in Nola maybe the best I have had this year. There first year making king cakes. It nudges the song phong by just a hair for me.

Instagram is the reason, not because it's an objectively good king cake
