I know people worship this place but I think it highly overrated and over priced...

Agree. It’s a place I only go with tourists.

Boy, do I agree. It's a caricature of local food, IMHO. Supported by Tulane undergrads who see it as part of "real NO". Go around the corner to Brigtsen's instead for a non-schlocky meal, lovely service, and no child labor violations.

Love Brigtsen's. My wife and I had a wonderful meal there last time we were in New Orleans. Just a wonderful experience start to finish.

Man, I wish Dante's Kitchen was still open. Loved that place.

That was exactly what I ordered every time I went there.

According to the Department of Labor, the minor suffered third-degree burns over more than a third of his body when he tripped and fell as he carried hot oil that he had emptied from the kitchen's deep fryer.

That's per another article from WDSU.

That's insane in this day and age. How they only got a $55k fine is beyond me. Dept. of Labor hands out bigger fines through OSHA for less severe potential problems, much less actual accidents that cause severe injuries to a minor below working age.

I don't have a problem with kids working a few hours here and there. Hell, I was on a payroll by 12, so I can't throw stones, but give them a broom and tell them to sweep up. Don't hand them a bucket of hot frying oil and tell them to dump it out back.

While I agree, the two are drastically different restaurants. That’s like ribbing someone going to Katie’s instead of Peche
