We’re going to be at LSU later today and would like ecommendations for an Italian restaurant for dinner. Thanks in advance.

For certain dishes, I like the sugar in monjunies. Granted, I don't generally get there red sauce on entrees.

ETA: You are right though it does not need to be considered in the top.

Can’t go wrong with Rotolos.

Digulios is right there... no one mentioned there are no reservations though. Great food, small wait.
Gino’s is good, but a little more pricey and is also close.
Pinettas isn’t bad, really intense sauce... dark and also no reservations, right by digulios.
Marcellos just opened up down the road too, near the bulldog.
Ninos is one of my favorites, not as traditional as the others and next to wild wings on bluebonnet. Will only take a 6 top or less on Friday and Saturday though.

That's my ranking too.

Little Village downtown is like a couple steps up in grade from Olive Garden. They hype their bread like it's the second coming, but it's just fluffy yeast rolls with butter and parm on top. I had the veal piccata there once and it was absolutely average. Wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good. I think that dinner cost me with tip about $30.

Not ever going back and I work two blocks away.

Marcellos is better than most restaurants of any genre in BR, in my opinion.

My favorite thing about them is walking through their wine area, choosing a bottle of wine at slightly over regular retail price instead of twice as much.

Went to the one over here on the south side... got the special which was braised rack of lamb over a bed of pasta and sauce (forgot what sauce). Sounded good
and was different, so I got it. What I got was a $30 bowl of pasta with about 1.5-2oz of lamb chunks. The amount of lamb totalled about 1/2 the size of a dollar bill with the biggest piece being about 1/4 thick.

Called the waiter over and showed him... he asked if lamb tasted bad. Told him I hadn’t taken a bite and what he was seeing was all of the lamb served in the bowl. He looked at me strange... I said, I’m not paying $30 for a bowl of pasta. His reply was yeh... that is pretty skimpy huh..

They made it right and brought me a bowl with some meat in it... but it was meh. Other than for drinks I’ll prolly not be back for a while.

DiGiulio Bros.
Gino's
Nino's

ETA: Damn, the FDB is pretty much in lockstep on these three. That NEVER happens.
