It’s that gallon of unopened ice cream that hurts the most

Going into a rental property and finding a dead bloated body is up there.

I’m thinking this wasn’t the original point of this thread.

Not me. I get a rush out of throwing out old stuff. Clothes, food, anything that clears out space. I'm the opposite of a hoarder; any clutter aggravates me.

side note PSA:

bought 2 packs of baby backs from Sam's by the mall. Got home opened one and it smelled like dead skunk.

Date listed was "sell By" 9/16/21.

I suspect they didn't remove stuff left out during power outage.

update:

returned the ribs to Sam's. Went to the Sam's in Denham Springs and got some more. Same thing. They obviously didn't handle this stuff correctly during the power outage.

I found it mildly liberating to be honest. The refreezing recommendation is money, though.

I went around day after the storm and got all the good from friend's fridges and we cooked it and gave it out.

Before we e a hated we threw everything out that was in the fridge which wasn’t much - we ate leftovers due a couple of days in anticipation.

In the freezer I had frozen gumbo, red gravy, red beans, shrimp, boudin, and sausage. We put all into ice chest and took with us. Buddy of mine who lives in Houston, I brought all to his house and said enjoy. He was very happy because he loved good Cajun and creole food but him and his wife can’t cook it for shite.

I've never really progressed to becoming an adult, so if we lost everything in both we'd be out like 50 bucks worth of stuff we probably weren't going to use anyway

We packed two huge ice chests but still had to throw out a ton of stuff. Kept those bitches iced down all week, was a pain in the arse but good to have food ready for the frig and freezer when we came home after the power was restored.

ETA: so to better answer the OP, it sure is a shite feeling so we busted arse to minimize it as much as possible.
