I ate the buffet in Hammond today at Punjabi Dhaba Indian. It has great reviews and many consider it very good.

I have eaten Indian food several times in my life and I just don't like it much. I am glad to know that I have now eaten at what is considered a good Indian restaurant and my impressions are the same.

I made the point of putting a spoonful of most everything on the buffet on my plate and I ate it. It just doesn't do anything for me.

The people were very nice there and they were quite busy.

Is there some dish that is just absolutely outstanding that everybody should like??

I love Indian food, but I don't order it very often because my other half doesn't like it.

My go-to is Baingan Bharta, which is a smokey eggplant mash in a spicy onion tomato sauce. Sometimes it has green peas in it. I don't generally love eggplant, but there is something about that particular combination that is just so freaking delicious. Scoop it up on some garlic naan and that is one hell of a meal. I enjoy a side of samosas or pakoras as well.

The spice profile is very specific, though, and I've found that those who don't like it REALLY don't like it.

Folks on Yelp were raving about naan at this place.

It is just thin pita bread to me. What is the big deal? Oh they called it garlic naan but it was nothing special to me.

Love all the different flavors and spices. Developed a taste for it when I was going to London regularly. I think Saffron in NO is pretty good.

I didn’t like Indian food at all the first several times I ate it. It grew on me and I’m okay with it now, but it’s not something I’ll ever suggest on my own.

A lot of people seem to love it, though, so I think it’s me that is the oddball.

I think it’s this for me. I like the idea of most Indian dishes, but it’s the way they’re spiced I’m usually not that into.

As for curries, I’m a Thai curry gal all the way.

I like to sip a Kingfisher & snack on poppadoms while I wait for my order.

LOVE Thai curry!

Japanese curry is probably my favorite, though.

There is no good Indian restaurant in Louisiana. Buffet is a buffet. It is done using the same base for every curry.

I'm Indian and I get it. Too each their own. Some like some flavors and some like different flavors. There is nothing wrong with it.

One thing I learned is to never call names of other people food. We call it tableside manners. You never know that person might be enjoying it.

Not a coonass. And all of their foods looks like a slightly different hue of a steamy pile of shite. It smells terrible and looks worse.

Chicken Tikka Masala or butter chicken are probably the most easily accessible Indian dishes for people new to Indian food. I'd suggest the former.

And I'd say judging a style of food by a buffet is probably not the best way, no matter how good a place is supposed to be.

You probably had the wrong food and wrong restaurant.

It is like my family trying jambalaya made with tomato ketchup by some random guy in India and deciding that cajun cooking is not good

To each his own.

Indian is my second favorite after Thai / Malaysian.

I find Italian food disgusting and hate most Mexican food as well, which most people seem to like.

Eat what you like. It doesn’t hurt to try new things.

South Korea has some awesome Indian restaurants.

The southern United States does not.
