I’ve read people shitting on CP a lot on here. I’ve only been once but thoroughly enjoyed it. Headed back to NOLA for a wedding in October and was planning on dining there again but would love to hear the locals better suggestions.

I still think CP for a boozy lunch in the Garden Room is the best lunch experience in NOLA. For dinner, there are better options. Clancy’s, Brigtsen’s, Irene’s and Mr. B’s Bistro are my top spots for dinner.

I love commanders but prefer it during weekdays. Can’t beat their martini prices and $20 pre fix lunch.

This. Though I think they limit you to 3 martinis now. Assholes. How am I supposed to get obnoxious with only 3 martinis?

I've literally never seen one person shite on Commander's Palace on here.

I just did a F&D board search. There is not one single post, on the first page of the search, where anyone shits on it. Most all are people recommending the place and saying to do the Chef's Table

The overrated restaurant thread is full of it. I’m not one of those people - i thought it was wonderful.

I don’t have a dog in the fight here, but there has absolutely been plenty of posts about Commanders Palace (and I’m paraphrasing) being something like overrated, past it’s prime, etc.

While I do think the food at CP is overrated it’s still a wonderful experience and definitely worth it.

There are places with better food but very few are as good or better at overall experience.

Revolution
August
Coquette
Le Petite Grocery

Could be some good alternatives but some aren’t as “grand” as CP.

I think it has fell off. Celebrated my wedding their last year with a party of 12 for a lunch. Some food cane out cold, other plates were just average. Service felt rushed & not warm at all. All together it was pretty meh and a big let down after talking it up to out of town in laws

I just looked at the first page of the search and there were none on there. I'm sure if I dug deep enough then I could find some, but I didn't for what I searched

Commanders is great, my favorite restaurant, anywhere. I only know of one regular poster here who doesn’t like it, and sure enough, he has already posted in this thread. My two backup options are Brigtsens and Clancy’s.

Not bait at all. Maybe just an off day but many people share similar experiences in other threads

If we are just talking about purely from a culinary aspect and not “the experience”, I think there a many better options.

Coquette
Zasu
La Petite Grocery
Peche
Compere Lapin
Saint Germain
Herbsaint
Brigtsens
Lillette
R’Evolution
Geautreau’s
Maypop
Bywater American Bistro
August
