Regretfully, after 19 years, Mellow Mushroom Baton Rouge has closed its doors for the last time. We are very grateful to our loyal fans, our great team members past and present, and to everyone who has supported us on this fantastic voyage.

Stay Mellow!

ETA: Mellow was much more than just a pizza place. Met my wife there, and I know a lot of people who also met their wives and husbands there. It was the perfect place for LSU when it opened, the open mic nights, the karaoke nights, the trivia, the shroom tea, shroom tizzle, so many good times, so many memories...All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

I wonder if it is all the chains. The Mellow Mushroom where I lived closed about a year ago.

It's been a long time since i've been to Mellow. I usually enjoyed their pizzas, but the crust was always soggy.

19 years. Anyone else think that’s an impressive run at one location? I do.

Wednesday, 19-yr-old me would go there, get a pitcher of that shite for $18, put a straw in the pitcher and that was my only drink all night.

Wasn't that the location that had several threads on the OT about it being taken over by...let's see...a different type of clientèle than normal that ran off all the business?

Yes, they basically decided to take over mellow on Wednesday nights, for some reason. Of all the places around campus, they chose mellow. And this is why we can't have nice things.

ETA: I just want to make clear I'm not referring to black people, I'm talking about thugs, people that show up to bars that don't buy anything, they show up just to cause trouble, who necessitate the hiring of off duty police to try to deter their behavior.

Dang, hate to hear this. We went about a month ago and it seemed like there were plenty of people there.

Like other's have said, lots of memories there. Some incredible times between rugby parties, band parties, and vet school parties there.

Good memories of trivia nights and karaoke Wednesday’s. Frequented often 2008-2012.

As a restaurant it wasn't anything special. But, like you said, it was more of a bar/gathering spot than anything LSU. But once your clientele becomes largely non-paying customers AND people prone to fights and shootings in the parking lot, there's not much hope to run a profitable restaurant

Horrible location (well documented prior business failures) and MM owner spent way to much money for any decent return on investment. When Cvitanovich (Drago's owner) offered MM owner crazy money for that location, he cut his losses to stop the bleeding. Cvitanovich singed a 20 yr lease for that property, I honestly don't see Drago's making it.

Was a great Wednesday place and an easy walk from Burbank Commons. Saw guns pulled in a racially divided fight one night and decided to forego my presence @trivia and karaoke.

They spent way too much on that renovation, I don't know the exact number but the place was way overdone
