I need a red wine rec for a blind tasting

It can be any varietal.
I'm going to a wine tasting. It's a blind taste test, and the bottle with the most votes wins.
The crowd will probably be an even mix of casual drinkers and connoisseurs.
The winner gets a bunch of wine, so this is very important

If it's for blind people, just get something cheap. They won't care.

Frog’s Leap merlot ~ $50 a bottle
You will thank me!!!

Argiano 2013 Brunello $65ish or Non Confunditur $20ish
Monsanto Chianti Classico $22ish
Ridge Three Valleys $29ish or Lytton Springs $39ish. Both are zinfandel blends.
Chateau Greysac Medoc $29ish
Chateau Larose Trintaudon Haut Medoc $22ish
I personally would bring the brunello and dick slap anyone who voted otherwise.

No price point?
Sassicaia or Ornellaia. Anyone that doesn't vote for those is an idiot.
Otherwise, I'd do something like the Brunello that TH03 suggested.

Vintage and some age paired with strategic decanting will be your best friend for a blind tasting.
To get most bang for buck around the 40/50 price point i’d aim for Bordeaux style blend that’s Cab heavy. Cali is great for this. Year will depend on Cali vs. Bordeaux.
‘07 Napa w/ 1hr decant
‘13 Napa w/ 2 hr decant
‘05 Bordeaux w 30 min decant
‘10 Bordeaux w/ 1hr decant.
‘15 Bordeaux w/ 2 hr decant
Wanted to add... depending on the vineyard and blend ratios, some of those vintages are tightly wound and open up while maintaining structure after long decants. I’ve known wines that drink more impressive the second day. The only way you can know is by researching tasting notes from reputable reviewers. The times I gave you are a starting point, but each blend, vintage, barrel, and even bottle will exhibit different characteristics.

If your goal is to win the blind tasting, then you'll want something big and fruity with a high alcohol level. That will stand out in a blind tasting. I'd look to CA cab or something from Central CA, like a syrah from Paso Robles.

Yeah, that's what I'm weighing in my head. I'm trying to stay away from what I enjoy the most and trying to think of what most there would enjoy.

$35-40
It's a bold cab that isn't that highly tannic. Great mouth feel.

Let an '07 Barolo breath, then hit them with that.
It won't be a "crowd pleaser", but it will be very different from the other wines.

FYI. Fruit bombs are not as popular as they once were and thank god for that.
