Pre-Piccadilly involvement. (gotta go back to the 80' for the real Ralph & Kacoo's)

Yes, it was one of the finest eating establishments in the south.

Still have one in Bossier(I grew up in BR in the 70's & 80's) and we still eat there 2-3 times/year. Quality of the food is still very, very good IMO. I get the Shrimp St. Charles(stuffed shrimp with lump crab meat on top and drizzled with hollandaise sauce, stuffed potato and a bunch of hush puppies/rolls.

Damn...think I'm overdue a visit, might hit it up this weekend.

It was the "fancy" place to go for prom night dinners in the late 80's and early 90's.

Ralph & Kacoo’s in NOLA was great, I even worked there for a stint. Some of the platters were off the charts, plus the hush puppies.

But the blackened alligator with Hollandaise sauce was absolutely amazing.

It’s interesting Rax didn’t make it, but Arby’s did. Rax was so much better.

Rax’ menu was so all over the place they got eaten alive in costs IIRC.

They got away from deli sandwiches and were also doing salad bars, shrimp, and a bunch of other disparate shite that didn’t necessarily bring in customers.

Piccadilly bought them out a few years ago and fricked it all up because I assume they're inept and have a retard running things.

More than a few years ago unless you consider 37 years a few (Piccadilly bought them in 1988).

Piccadilly's issues began in 1998 when the bought Morrison and then quickly went downhill after that. In the early 2000s is when you saw them start cutting corners and R&K start to suffer.

Their first BR location was on Airline Hwy around Prescott almost directly across from Don's.

I had Rax about a year ago in Joliet Illinois. I asked if I could get one of these and the girl had no clue what I was talking about.

Definitely have nostalgia for the old original location.

Back in the day when that was the only location, it was a treat to travel over to New Roads.

I remember when I was a kid, that's where we would go for special events. And that was a big deal. Going to Ralph & Kacoos was high cotton.

My mother stopped at the old location in New Rhodes on our way back to Vernon Parish. Just an old wooden shack with old wooden pick nick tables. Cool old place with delicious food.

I have two nephews currently working there, and they're both great kids. So they hire well, and the quality shows in the service and food. The blackened alligator with hollandaise sauce is always my steady order.

I was thinking about Don’s and Mike Andersons yesterday. Anyone got a review on how Mike Andersons is these days?

That big pink building in the Quarter seems like it's been sitting empty for 20+ years. I can't remember if they closed before or after Katrina.

I still have one somewhere in my house. Wasn't an alligator though...I think mine is a blue dolphin. But it was from Rax and I drank out of it a million times as a kid. I loved that thing.
