As someone who can't have gluten I eat a lot of quinoa and quinoa pasta.

Holds up to the read beans very well. The red beans are the star, but it serves as a good platform for the beans. It works for sure.

Dude just went through a pound of high powered Quinoa Gris. He's probably laid out on the floor with some Floyd blarring amidst an empty bag Cool Ranch Doritos and some Oreo crumbs.

Use it to make a whole grain cereal. Mix it with oat groats, bulger, ground flaxseed, etc. Mix up enough for the week and keep it in the fridge. Heat it up in the microwave and top it off with fresh fruit.

I'm more of a crunchy Cheetos guy, but you nailed me with the Oreos. I can eat a full pack in an hour or so...no accelerant required.

I feel dumber than I usually do. I never even heard of an oat groat, much less a bulger.

Might be the funniest F&D board thread ever. Applause for all for keeping character throughout.

Dunno brah they definitely have it. The kind I used to get from there used to come in a kind blue-greenish or turquoise box, do not recall the brand name. I haven't eaten much recently since I don't normally cook during the week but I do occasionally buy quinoa pasta.

I first heard of Quinoa about 17 years ago when a South American chef in a restaurant I worked at near Lincoln Center started promoting it. I guess the foodie dispersion timeline rivals the old saying about how long cultural trends take to leave New York and get to the rest of the country. I guess in a few years this board will be awash with miracle fruit tasting party threads. Not dogging anyone, but just find it interesting. Quinoa is much better for you nutritionally, so go for it.

I've been eating quinoa for probably 5 years, and 17 years ago I was 8 and unable to cook anything more than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, if that. I don't think my timeline has anything to do with location or lack thereof. Neither does this thread for that matter.

Try the health food section. The brand in the turquoise is Ancient Harvest. You can try Whole Foods, also.

At Rouse's on Tchoup it is n the organic section, same aisle as condiments. It is like $5-6 a bag. You can get it cheaper in bulk bins at Whole Foods.

Had a great Quinoa dish this past weekend that a friend prepared.. Can be served as a side dish or dip.

Cooked Quinoa
Chopped avacado, mango, red onion, cilantro
Squeeze of fresh lime and orange juice
Dash of salt

Came out very fresh and delicious, will be doing again in in the future.

Somehow, I missed this post. I'm glad it worked for you. I'm very excited to have found something which is a healthy substitute that I actually like. I can think of lots of ways to use that I believe I'll enjoy. I had the leftover coq au vin with it, last night, and it was still so good. I like cold or hot. I really liked the caprese I made it with it. Kpet in the fridge a good while, so it made a nice snack as well as a side.
