Yep. The Chime-O-Matic. Still works great. It was my parent's rice cooker from the late 70's. No need to upgrade.

Convenience. Put in rice, salt and water and push the button. I can also cook excellent rice in a pot on top of the stove, but I prefer the convenience so I can concentrate on the rest of the meal. I can also make my own toothpicks, but I rather just buy a box.
