I was being generous with getting the rice out the pantry, pouring it in then adding the water to the appropriate line, then pushing the button

Apparently a lot of people have difficulties cooking great rice on the stovetop, or they have plenty of storage and counter space for yet another large gadget.
I remember having a bread machine back when that was the "in thing".
Then I learned how nice and therapeutic it was to bake bread from scratch.
That sumbitch took up a lot of counter space.

I just got a bread machine back in my house after my mom decided she didnt like it because she wanted a bigger one.
I used to have one in Alaska but sold it when I moved down. I missed it at times, but now that I got one again. I just put that sum bitch next to the coffee maker in this coffee nook we have. In like two weeks ive baked more bread than I know what to do with
I have a kitchen aid mixer but that bitch is heavy to move and ain't staying out
ETA: to add to this thread, I used to make rice regular style in LA, when I moved to AK they all used rice makers. Converted me real quick. I also love it for the steamer tray. Great for broccoli and gyoza

Don’t worry about how I cook my rice.

My mother used a rice cooker and didn't have any problems with rice sticking to the pot. I use a pot on an induction stove to cook rice. If it's a long grain LA rice, I add about 1/2 tsp of canola to a cup of uncooked rice and bring everything to a boil, stir once, then turn the stove to the lowest setting. It doesn't look like anything is happening and in a 1/2 hour the rice is cooked and not stuck to the pot.

wash the rice in the pot, water about an inch above the rice, come to a boil, turn off and remove from heat, cover and let sit for 13mins.
Wrong at literally every point.

Everyone ethnicity in the world is more picky about their rice than cajuns except Canadians, Europeans, and Russians

I married a coonass and had never heard of a rice cooker. But after years of fighting her on it I only cook rice in one. No bad rice. Every now and then I would have mushy, or scorched rice in a pot, no more.
Rinse rice, add water till a finger joint above the rice line, add a pinch of salt and a splash of white vinegar. Thats how she did it and always had great rice.

I learned recently that a lot of people can’t cook rice.
I’ve never had an issue.

kitchen tools are for people who can't cook. that's why i don't own a knife; i can perfectly chop, slice, cut, etc. with my teeth.

Thanks, I am superior because I can read the instructions on the back of a bag of rice and cook accordingly. I don’t need an appliance to do it for me.

It is supposed to make the rice less sticky / clumpy. My mom always does this. I pretty much never do, as I never noticed a big difference.
