I had no idea rabbit was so expensive

I just picked up a rabbit from Rouse's and the lil' guy was $25. My friend was teasing me that I should have just gone out and shot one.

Check craigslist, and normally get them pretty cheap and fresh...

It was an impulse buy for a recipe that I've been wanting to try. For those who are interested, I see that Best Stop has them for just over five bucks a pound. That's one of the better excuses to make my way there.

If you're ever in New Roads go to Hot Tails -- they have a very generous helping of fried rabbit served with red beans and rice for $13

I do know this about duck, and why the price is so damn high: Besh had been in the duck business for a while there. He was raising them and using them in his restaurants.
There's no automated system/machine that will clean a duck like we have for farm raised chickens. They got rid of the ducks and use that part of the farm for raising more swine.

Forgot about that -- that's some good eats. Grab a fruit tart for dessert and wash it down with a Tahitian Treat they sell at the vending machine

I've always wanted to try this recipe.

Be sure to check Country of Origins. Most rabbits sold in U.S. are from China.

mid city rouses had them on special this week - seemed to be about half off so i picked one up for like $12-13.

The $200 a pound for wild duck at my camp is for the whole bird. But you are totally correct - it rockets up to about $500 for boneless/breasted (can I say "breasted" on the F&DB ?)
