Apparently the owner of shipleys bought the krispy kreme franchise rights for the houston area, and sat on it to protect his business.

Mr. Ronnie's in Houma beats Shipley's. I heard mixed reviews on the one they opened in BR. But the original in Houma's hot glazed donut is a masterpiece.

We had a Shipley's here back in the late 60's. Closed in the 70's. Man were those doughnuts good. We have some Chinese knock offs that are about the same. The only thing good about krispy kreme is the middle of the doughnut.

Their buttermilk ones are also really good
