Headed this way soon. Any craft brew stops or BBQ stops I should make?

Blue Pants Brewery and Straight to Ale are solid IMO

Campus No 805 has Straight To Ale brewing and several food vendors. Not sure about BBQ though. Huntsville has never really had a reputation for good BBQ.

I think Yellowhammer Brewing is there as well, and maybe another one.

Yes Yellowhammer and Straight to Ale are Campus 805. Green Bus brewing has a nice location downtown. Other bars: Below the Radar, OBTX, and Liquor Express

BBQ... I mean there are places with good pork but its nothing to write home about. Moes has great wings.

Big Bob Gibson’s is a little drive away in Decatur. Been making bbq since the 20s. Invented Alabama white sauce.

Another drive to consider is Greenbrier Restaurant. I say this without any reservation whatsoever, they make the best hush puppies that I have ever eaten. And I’ve eaten more than my fair share.

I've eaten at a Dreamland in HSV and Big Bob's in Decatur. Both were very disappointing. Would not recommend either for BBQ.

Big Bob's is some of the worst bbq I've ever had.

If you're shitting on BBG's, then you are saying the people at Memphis in May don't know what they're doing. I agree, that the BBG's in Huntsville is not that great, but the original, in Decatur, is awesome.

To be fair, the BBQ Lilly is serving in Memphis to the judges is not the same that is served at BBG's.

However, if these guys shitting on BBG are getting pork instead of chicken, well there's their problem.

You go to Gibson's for chicken and white sauce. Pick somewhere else for pork.

Well, I asked the waitress what BBG was known for and she said the pulled pork and pointed me to all the trophies on the wall, so . . . I ordered pork.

BBG isn't bad, but it's certainly not worth the drive there from Huntsville.

I've never thought BBG's was very good. Their sauces are fine and sides are fine, but ever time I've been, the bbq has been unbelievably dry. I've gotten most of what they offer at one time or another, and I just wasn't impressed.

The chicken and white sauce at Miss Myra's in Bham is light years better than BBG's.

BBG’s is bad. Most places in Memphis are pretty bad now too. Competition BBQ is a completely different category than restaurant BBQ, I can guarantee BBG’s puts out a much more impressive product at Memphis in May.

Moe’s is the best BBQ in Huntsville. But Dreamland’s isn’t bad. Their sauce is amazing. Gibson’s on Whitesburg is alright.

For beer check out Straight to Ale or Rocket Republic. Rocket Republic Astronaut Brown Ale is da shiznit.

For something different, go to Pints and Pixels. Good Tex-Mex, great beer selection and old school arcade games.

I get Moe’s is a chain and everything, but it is solid. Their ribs are good, sides are good. I absolutely love their wings. They are fantastic. The one in Bham actually has a decent shrimp poboy (for non-Louisiana standards).

The place won’t blow your socks off or anything, but I’ve never been disappointed eating there.
