I think they could compete very nicely somewhere on st. Charles or Magazine.

maybe on st charles closer to the city.

imo i think it is a cbd/warehouse district bar. feels too corporate and touristy to me

flying saucers are hit and miss. all depends on local management--actually site management.

I love the Sugar Land location and they have knowledgable waiters/waitresses, do lots of events with local breweries...however the downtown Houston locations sucks. the selection isn't that good TBH

This is exactly what it is. I welcome another bar with a variety of beers, just not sure a city this size can handle two of those (its basically barcadia sans the shitty/obnoxious club in the back and the games) in the same area. This just isn't a beer-centric place like Texas, people like their liquor.

Honestly, I'd put it in the FQ somewhere, pasty tourists love seeing things they are familiar with ,and it could survive on pure volume despite an elevated rent relative to other locales. Bulldog/Barcadia/APub have Uptown/Midcity/WHD covered, the cash cow that is the quarter has little to nothing to offer in terms of "beer bars."

Website says its the exact same menu. Food is on par with Applebees.

Maybe it's because I'm always drunk when I order them, but the pretzels at FS kick arse.

As for the downtown Houston location. I think they slack off because they almost always get a crowd and they don't have to hustle like some of the other bars. A lot of the beer nerds have pretty much written them off. Even when they have a big events they get a large crowd, but many of them have no idea what the rare beers are...or they just don't like them.

They had a badass lineup for their 13th anniversary and half the beers were still on tap 2 days later. If the same lineup was at Petrol Station or Hay Merchant, it would have been gone in a couple hours.

I count 32 on the website plus another ~30 in bottles (FS has more, there is no debate, but they can't serve Sculpin or DFH here any more than anyone else can :thanksobama:).

For me it's less about the management and more about the beer...and knee high stockings...and steel tip darts...I'll need to consider management more of a factor next time I visit, once I get past the great beer selection...and short skirts...and steel tip darts...
