Coming to you straight from the sushi chef’s mouth, MUNCHIES presents the dos and don’ts of eating sushi, as taught by Tokyo's Naomichi Yasuda. Be warned: You’ve been doing it wrong.

So pretty much the exact way I’ve been eating sushi my entire life and I live in south Louisiana. Good video none the less though

someone told me years ago that they use their fingers in Japan and not chopsticks. I was very happy to hear that and have been slobbing it ever since

Wanna have some real fun? Ask for the roll uncut, then eat it like a hot dog. The chef behind the bar will look at you like your eating someone's arm.

Great video!
I would have liked to see his instructions for eating rolls with the rice in the outside.
Fingers like the roll he showed or chopsticks like the nigiri?

Either way is appropriate.

I now prefer Nigiri and use my fingers.

In addition, sushi roll slices, no matter how big, should be eaten in one bite. You're not supposed to bite it in half and eat it, and then eat the other half.

Anthony Bourdain showed us this years ago...

Haha, ask for mustard and relish to go with it.

I prefer the nori on the outside because the roll retains some of the moisture from the rice and seasoned vinegar. The nori also seems to add a little more flavor to roll.

I mix my wasabi into my soy sauce and then basically soak my rolls in it. I'm trash, but at least I own it,

This video was posted in 2014 and shared on here a dozen times.
Yep, I’m feeling like an a-hole today.

I’ve been eating sushi/sashimi since 1983. When Suntory (Japan) purchased Kentwood Spring Water, my dad was responsible for taking their corporate executives out to dinner. First thing I learned was chop sticks were a no no, and to use your hands. Warm hand towels were provided prior to eating to clean your hands. Very few Japanese restaurants still do this.

We’ve been doing it wrong not by eating it with chopsticks but not eating Nigiri and instead eating rolls stuffed with the fried kitchen sink and fake crab meat.

When does he start making the sword?

My dad prob knew your dad as my dad worked his way up in KSW since the 80s. He opened the plant in Kentwood.

This. I think rice on outside is only for aesthetics.
