Same with rum. Whiskey and dark rum are my go-to liquors if I’m looking for something expensive without a lot of bite. I workout so I can drink. It’s some give and take

I agree. Whenever I hear these knuckleheads talking about where they can find Pappy Van Winkle I laugh at them. The scarcity is the value. If they took a blind taste test, and bid on bottles based on that, they would not pay more for that than for any good bourbon.

Coming from the guy who posted this?

Heading to hang with the wife’s family on memorial day. They are big southern baptist and frown upon drinking. In our 10 year relationship we have gone there every year for memorial day and the 4th of July and never had drinks. I’ve averaged 60 hours a week over the last month and I’m a man. I’m 40. I want to have a few brews. Was told I if I bring beer I’d have to keep it in the car and put it in a yeti cup.

I drink it far too fast to spend too much money. Plus a $32 bottle of Elijah Craig is just as good as any of the expensive bourbon I’ve tasted.

I don't drink a lot of liquor, but when I do it is nice stuff. I have bought several bottles of expensive scotch and they are in the cabinet. I only pull out a glass on special occasions.

Some bourbons, there is a noticeable difference in flavor. But, that really comes with drinking bourbon fairly regularly, to train your palate to taste the subtleties of the juice.

Can't i buy bourbon and workout? Why does it have to be either/or? I workout so i can drink.

Yeah its like OP didn't realize lots of folks do in fact workout and like to drink.

As for pricing, whiskey and wine are similar in this regard. There is a very discernible difference in a $10 bottle vs. a $50 bottle.

If someone likes something that tastes better, and can afford it, why would anyone really care?!?

Sidenote - you can quickly ID an alcoholic because they drink by volume, so they are on the cheap stuff ALL the time.

I have 100 bottles of bourbon or so. Some I drink, so I collect, some I sell/trade.

It's a hobby with the added benefit of drinking bourbon. If you are patient, with a little bit of luck, you can make a profit, or at least break even.

Especially the whiskey fad crowd. Buying $150 whiskey that tastes like $30 whiskey just because the maker deems it rare.
You're partially correct with this, things I could easily find on the shelf 7 years ago are chased but overall, you're incorrect. Pricier wines and spirits generally taste better.
