I’ve got everything from gumbo, duck breast, frog legs, jerky meat, summer sausage, Boston butts, back strap, prime ribs, boiled peanuts, bacon, shrimp, bisque heads, turkey stock, wild turkey, fish, wild turkey breasts, crawfish tails, tonys boudin balls, jerry lees boudin, ground beef, ribeyes, filets. And on top of that, all kinds of little trader joe bags of veggies, pork bellies, and pre cooked trader joe shite the wife put in there.

I know I need to cook some good stuff.

I keep 20 pk beer bottle boxes and diaper boxes and try to organize using them, but I’ve had about enough.

I spent an hour this morning trying to organize it and see what all I have. Thinking of buying an upright freezer. Any other ideas?

My chest freezer has sliding bins on top and vertical dividers below, making six separate squares. I put ready to eat food on top and raw stuff below, with diff bins holding beef, seafood, poultry, and baked bread (exception to the raw below rule bc I have so much of it). Date/label everything clearly in sharpie on freezer tape, keep a running list of contents on a piece of paper stuck on outside of fridge. Cross it off as you take it out. You’ll know at a glance what is oldest and what you have on hand.

Like Hungryone said, I have a small dry erase board on the freezer that has everything in it and the day put it in the freezer. I erase and add things as I go which helps us stay organize and utilize things that are getting older.

Very inefficiently. Luckily the previous owner of our current house left their upright fridge/freezer. Now have more freezer space than I'll usually need.

I find the Dewey decimal system to be the most efficient

Get an upright. You can also use milk crates to organize everything but you lose space and it’s still a pain in the butt to get to everything.

I use a combination of things. I like the sliding racks on top and I have built a wooden divider system on the bottom. My chest freezer is primarily used for storing raw meat and veg that I have packaged myself. Wild game, fish, and large cryovac cuts that I have broken down and vacuum sealed. Those go on the bottom based on animal and cut. I use the top racks for snack sticks and sausage that I make. I also have an upright for prepared items and boxed items.

https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/stackable-shoe-boxes-set-of-12/1045926877

These, sans shoes. They're like $12 for a pack of 12 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. You just tape something or write on the lid to label what's inside and when you're looking in, you can just read the lid and move the whole box out of the way if that's not what you're looking for.

I recently upgraded to an upright and these clear shoeboxes are still a godsend to keep everything in its place if you have a lot of irregularly shaped stuff.

EDIT: The one thing I don't like are the sloped sides because you do lose a good bit of space. I know you can buy hard polycarbonate fridge boxes with straight sides instead, but I've got like 8 of these shoeboxes in my freezer and I don't want to pay $10 a box to get rid of sloped sides. If anyone knows of some other product like the one in the picture above that's basically disposable but has straight sides and is wide enough to hold a quart freezer bag, holla at me.

this ^^^^^^

otherwise you use whats on top, "maybe whats one layer below that, and every damn thing else is frozen solid into an immovable freezer burnt or freezer dried mass that just gets thrown away every 5-6 years when you finally defrost it to see whats in it.

Amazon. They've got a whole section on freezer replacement parts.

At first I was wondering why you kept Sofia the First pullups in the freezer, then I scrolled down.

Mine looks similar to yours. I have two baskets about that size that packaged foods go in. Frozen nuggets, bagel bites, biscuits, popsicles, etc. On the left side there is a divider, and in there I have stuff frozen from gardening, arranged in gallon freezer bags. The 2/3 of floor space on the right is a free for all. I have a few frozen milk jugs arranged, and a couple bags of ice. The rest is taken up by frozen meats and other items.

My wife just organized our feezer with 6 of these. I laughed at the idea, but it's legit.

My freezer doesnt get loaded to where we have to dig. We have deer on one side, chicken in the middle, pork and seafood on the right, and then the rest is in the drawers on top.

I wouldnt get n upright because it cant hold the volume that a chest can. Uprights burn more electricity and if the lights go out for few days, you lose everything in the upright. The chest will keep items frozen longer.

1. Throw shite in there.
2. Go to get something out, dig while cussing yourself that it isn't organized and swear to yourself you're going to organize it.
3. Forget to organize it, repeat steps 1 and 2.

Been that way for 16 years.
