No actual chefs agree that the chain restaurant Houston's is a top 10 restaurant in New Orleans.

If it were still in Metairie it would be top 10 there

Isn’t Boulevard the exact same menu?

I’m not sure if it’s exact same, but the service was not good and it seemed overly expensive when we went there six months ago.

No chicken tenders at the Nola Houston’s.

Traditional salad
Spinach dip
Rib eye or the steak frites

Burgers are legit as well
If you catch them on a day when they have red beans, I would definitely order them.

I eat at least three meals a week there and, no, it’s not close to a top restaurant in the city

I was there a couple months ago and ordered them. They're not on the menu, but you can order them.

The boulevard is basically the same thing
It’s amazing how consistent Houston’s has been all these years
It blew away any chain restaurant in 80’s for sure

Hard to compete as a chain in nola. That place pulls it off imo.

Chain or not, it’s arguably a top 10 restaurant in the city.

Not a chance.

I could probably name another 20. I don't hate Houstons but I'm in the same boat as OP, no idea why my wife (no pics) loves it.

Hawaiian ribeye and the burger are what I order. Most of the time burger for lunch and steak for dinner.

I miss the Sun Belt salad from the one in Metairie. Don’t think it’s on the menu at the New Orleans location.

I take clients there often. I always order the spinach dip and seared tuna salad.

Everything is good.

Had a client order a crab cake and stuffed potato. She dumped the crab cake into the potato. I was impressed.

It may be a chain now that it’s owned by Hillstone but when I worked there in the 80’s it was only owned by 3 guys that were very hands on. I can verify they didn’t do anything half-assed and wanted badly to succeed in the New Orleans market. I’ll never forget when they introduced fish to the menu and watched them return a lot of fish for not being fresh enough and subsequently 86ing it for the day. Everything was high quality and the food was constantly checked, with the managers well trained as they did a week or 2 in every position that the restaurant had.

Perfect time to drop one of the best articles BA has ever put out.

Welcome to Hillstone - America’s favorite restaurant.

great article

boustons and the other hillstone places are an American success story, exceptional food and exceptional service duplicated 45 or so times

Houston’s is a never fail fantastic meal regardless of the city it’s in and disparaging it as a “chain” is just dumb
