So currently and will be for awhile right south of the energy corridor, off of Eldridge not to far from GWB park.

What are some places worth trying out close by and then what are some cant miss places I need to go to anywhere in the city?

Pinkerton’s is 2 bit bbq. Go to Gatlin’s if you want a man-sized rib rack

I'm not a houstonian but I do have to go there every three months for a few days for appts. at MD Anderson and I have done a little exploring as far as food goes
.
If you like chinese buffet's the silver palace on Belaire blvd. is pretty fair, not great but good for a buffet.

Near NRG park in the same complex as the festival grocery store there is a mid-eastern buffet that is really good if you like greek/lebanese type food. I enjoy the food there and it is fresh and hot all the time.

Other than that there is a ton of tex mex joints that are really good just pretty much pick one and give it a try.

You did this same thread on the Food Board in September. Maybe you could go and read it

I have at least 7 bowls of salsa every time I go to Gringos.

Opposite side of town there is a Panchos in Humble. it's literally the greatest place on earth.

Out of allllllll the restaurants in Houston, you recommend a “fair” Chinese buffet?
