Feges might be the best, but unless you work in Greenway, or don't have a normal job, you aren't going to get an opportunity to eat there...those clowns are open from 630AM-930AM and 1100AM-300PM Monday-Friday, and not open at all on the weekend.

Try Irma’s it’s near Minute Made on the north side of downtown. It’s open for lunch and probably nights when there’s an astros game.
But it’s a good lunch spot.

Offshore, give me the 5 best Heights/Midtown restaurants that aren’t fine dining.

Feges owns them both if we ranking best inside the loop.
The brisket there is LEGIT.
But yeah, I work in Greenway, so it’s easy. I wonder why they picked a limited spot like that...unless they just really didn’t want to be a dinner place. Catch a good crowd for breakfast and lunch then shut it down for the evening.

Heights-Coltivare, Ritual, Crisp, Pinkerton's BBQ, Unos P’nches Tacos, Shepherd Park Draught House
Midtown-Oporto, Thien An, Provisions, Luna y Sol, Lankford's, Cooking Girl, Luigi's Pizza next to Axelrad
Might not be the best...but these are the places I find myself going back to.

Appreciate the recs. I’m new to the area, and yelp is only so useful.

I think they've (Les Givral) got some of the best banh mi in the city...I just can't fricking stand the attitudes of the people working there.

my buddy's been banned there for life for stealing coke from the fountain drink machine
speaking of that damn machine, it's broken and they are not going to replace it at this point, which means that you're gonna have to buy a drink from their cooler.
also, the goddamn air conditioning is always broken.

Roostar is over priced for your typical banh mi but their French bread rivals the best I’ve had in New Orleans. I’ll die on that hill too

I’ve heard that Luigi’s is legit, I’ll have to try and check it out.
Only pizza place in that area, I’ve tried is Gotham.

Les Baget...or now Les Noodle had a really good banh mi...and any of them could be made on a croissant...shite was awesome.
Now they just serve pho until their new place opens in The Heights.
Point of story...frick those guys for moving my favorite menu items to The Heights location.

No kidding. This thread has definitely delivered and I certainly won't go hungry for the 7 days/6 nights that I'll be there.
I know that it slightly derailed to a particular area of town on page 3 of this thread, so I'll just have to look those places up and take an uber

New place is only a couple minutes from me. Might give it a spin tonight.

Come back and let us know where you ate, what you ordered, and how it was.

Thanks for the numerous Mexican/Tex-Mex options that aren't named Pappasito's. I think I'm going to be eating as much Mexican as possible so I will probably give Xochi, Ninfa's, and El Tiempo all a try.
If you're looking for really good Mexican food look at Hugos. Same chef as Xochi.
Also look at Picos on kirby. Go there and get an El Jefe Marg. It'll change your life.
