If Mexican/Tex Mex is what you're after...Luna Y Sol is another good one in Midtown.

If you like Xochi...there are two other places in town who are owned by the same chef that feature different regional Mexican cooking. Xoxhi is Oaxacan, Hugo's is across multiple regions, and Caracol is coastal/seafood.

All of Hugo’s places are legit and I love Xochi.

OP asked for close to Minute Maid so I used the walking thread.... agree, Papasitos isn’t something I would seek out but it’s in the Hilton.

Hit Pit Room for BBQ. Or Pinkertons, Grant does a good job.

I’ve heard really good stuff about Goode’s Kitchen & Cantina... new Messican joint. I feel you venture out, try it. Goode Company Seafood off Kirby is solid. Their Campenchana is one of my go-to’s for a light lunch or dinner app. Love it.

Yep...place is very good. Just wish there was one in the Loop, guess I'll keep making the trek outside of my bubble to Memorial.

Potente is excellent. The kitchen is run by Danny Trace, ex Brennan's Houston chef who brought some Brennan's influences to the Italian steakhouse format. The interior design is one of the tops in Houston.

For dinner, a quick light rail ride to McGowan exit and a block's walk to Reef.

I can not recommend night market enough. I freaking love that place.

I play sharpstown just to have an excuse to go eat Chinatown after.

Oh shite. Thanks for the heads up. I usually supply a link to the website but their menu was being temperamental, so this explains it. Thanks.

ETA: Wow, six months is an eternity for a restaurant to be closed. Staff, rent, income...

Is this thread about to become a Pit Room vs Pinkerston’s thread?

I’ll plant my flag, pit room

Feges owns them both if we ranking best inside the loop.

I'll admit they're both good though, and whoever suggested Goode Co had to be trolling.
