I like the chips & salsa/guac at El Rio Grande, as well as their chili-onion enchiladas con huevos and chocolate chimichanga.
Dorothy's is the next best thing to Silver Moon.

What do you mean? You might know it but ask around to people you don't speak much with and you'll find they say,"Coops? Where's that?"

Tandoori chicken is legit. You are talking about that place right where the bridge over the I-10 starts?
I've had lunch there and at Frosty's on the other side of Vets a few times.

What about people you're merely acquainted with? People ask me for a FQ rec that's not white table cloth and I mention it and 80% ask where it is and what does it serve.

My NYC haunts...
Sophie's in the east village. Classic dive bar. Great jukebox. Great Guinness.
Gnocco Italian restaurant also in the EV. My fav Italian place that most people don't know about yet.
Bereket Kabbob House on Houston St just a few blocks from Katz's. Great kabbobs, salads, stuffed grape leaves, an entire plate for $12-13.
The hot dog shack at the surfers only beach at rockaway beach. Great all around chargrilled dog with a ice cold pbr for $6.

For any houston folks, La Carretta on 20th between Yale and Studewood. Most of the menu is junk but their chorizo breakfast taco's and ground beef taco's are some of the best i've ever had.
Also right down the street from there on the other side of studwood is Asia Marked, best thai food in houston. Killer pad thai

Same here. Coop's is a very popular place. Doesn't fit in this thread.
