I know some don't like it but I've never had anything bad there. Pupusas, tacos, and enchiladas all some of my favorites in the area. I've seen many write ups about the soup but have not tried them yet.
Limes in your ice tea, telemundo soccer on the TV and people speaking Spanish. It's official has it get in the NO.

Good place, I have friends that live right across the street on Newman and I can't believe they have never been. I really enjoy that place.

lol, I got sick after eating there. I didn't like my meal. g/f spilled her tea and the server never brought another. Ran out of chips. It didn't taste bad but something didn't sit with me.
Too many decent Taqueras to go back there.
Maybe another chance.

Not a fan. Been a handful of times and everything has been bland as hell.

I'm so lucky that I get to eat in a different La. city everyday
I always ask and/or find the local hole in the wall no matter where I'm at!
I've been to 97% of the places (In La) mentioned in this thread
And this one.

Young's fortune on Cleary in Metairie, if you go up Cleary away from Vets going toward Airline, it's right before you go over the I-10 overpass.
On the surface, it looks like a shithole in an old Popeyes that was at the end of a strip that includes a bar at the other end, but it's good food. Plentiful, too if you're feeling gluttonous.
It's not fine dining by any stretch of the imagination, but way better than any "No.1 Great China Wall King Happy Family Panda Wok Chef" joint with the picture menu and all items come with fried rice and egg roll in a 3 compartment clamshell foam plate.
Also the only place i've ever been to that serves all of the drinks in cans, but also gives you a hot towel like at a sushi joint.
That's classy, right thurr. Can't even be mad at it.
If you go, ask for Miss Lynn, and tell her the "Five Tiger" brothers sent you. You'll be treated like a made man.

Other places if you aint skurred ...
Wing Shack in New Orleans on Claiborne and Orleans - get the "Ghetto Punch"
The "Blu Store" right out the back gates of Southern University in Baton Rouge. - Best chicken wangs EVER ... i said EVER, dammit. But if you don't get a potato log, a nehi out the barrel in front the register, a roll, and a pepper with it, then you aint doin' it right.
The last piece of fried fish i ever ate before i had weight loss surgery was actually the single best piece of fried fish i had ever eaten in my life, and i got it at Dorothy's in Baton Rouge on Gardere. I felt like a crackhead that finally matched the high he had the very first time he smoked, and was able to quit.
Of course, many of you know i always pimp Castnet Seafood in New Orleans East on here, and even though they have plenty business, i think it does qualify as a "whole in the wall" and for some reason doesn't get mentioned much on here, so i will right now.
Not a hole in the wall at all, but unknown outside of campus, Mayberry Cafeteria on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge on Mondays (fried chicken and red bean day) is one of the best country cookin'/soul food buffets around. Along with fried chicken and red beans, they have baked chicken, and smoked sausage cooked just right where the skin snaps when you bite it. They also have great veggies, which usually include corn on the cob, cabbage, lima beans, greens, green beans, etc. Hot buttery rolls and/or cornbread. All you can eat. Drink included, last i knew it was like 5-6 bucks.

? 4/10 on troll attempt. Mine are Poboy Kind on Vets/Edenborn (something like that), Salsas Por El Lagos, not sure where they're hanging out these days if at all, and Tandoori Chicken on Cleary.
