Knife blocks lead to savage murder. Don’t you watch the ID channel?!

That would be a good starter set for a kid going to college or something

I'd rather bet $70 on the Jets ML than waste it on that.

Expensive knives are some of the biggest scams in the culinary world. All you need is a sharp knife,

I have a similar set that is over 15 years old. Best parts of it are the steak knives, serrated knife & kitchen shears. Otherwise it's a POS!

Fine knives have a way of walking away in a kitchen. Those knives are good enough to do the job and cheap enough that people aren't tempted to steal them.

I would prefer a single good 8" chef's knife to that set. I use a chef's knife and kitchen shears for about 90% of prep work.

Looks like they’re having a decent sale on their website. Spend a little more and get one of their forged 7 piece sets if you’re set on Henckels.

I have a similar set of forged ones(not sure what those are in the pic) and they're fine for me. I think I paid closer to $175 for mine. They don't keep an edge as well as a nicer chef's knife I have, but they work fine otherwise.

Dumb question: are all forged knife sets created equal?

Didn't mean for this to send me down a damn rabbit hole but here we go!

Thanks for helping me avoid a dumb mistake. I saw the brand name but didn't know about all the China stamped v german forged stuff.

Not even close. Stop looking at sets. Buy a few high quality knives, not a garbage set.

Go to your local restaurant supply store and buy the few Dexter-Russel knives that you need, chef's knife, bread knife, paring knife, maybe a boning knife.
