I ate at one about 12 years ago, and I had the special, which was a mustard encrusted pork chop of some sort, and it was crazy good. I mean, Weber knows grilling, right?

Thinking of going to the one here in Indy for my Dad's 84th birthday next month. He wants a good steak. He has a Weber grill and a Weber bullet smoker. I have two Weber grills. Thought it would be cool. Otherwise, we could go to St Elmo's.

Anybody have any thoughts on the steaks at the Weber Restaurant?

I went some years ago. I thought it was okay. Reminded me of a Chili's type place.

Went to St. Elmo's, too. It was a good steakhouse, but not as good as I expected maybe because of so much hype about it. The cocktail sauce on the shrimp was too hot and buried the flavor of the shrimp as I recall.

Sorry for not much info!

I went to one in Chicago years ago. I remember the steak I got being pretty solid

From what I remember, the Weber Grill I went to in Chicago was well above Chili's. I just haven't had a steak there.

I walked into the one here in Indy over a year ago, and it reeked of old school steakhouse - dark wood, stone, and leather. I was planning to go back, but Covid happened.

Glock - solid is probably going to be great for my Dad's 84 year old palate. I'm leaning towards Weber because that will mean more to him than St Elmo's, although I do have a bottle of St Elmo's whiskey I'm planning to break open when he's here.

I have a chef friend (used to work for Gordon Ramsey) who is going to come over and show me how to cook a decent meal. He is also my Indy craft beer buddy. That will be an all day drink/grill/eat day.

I've been to the one in Chicago a couple of times. I enjoyed their steak and pork chop on separate visits.

It's not prime quality and it's certainly not the best in that city, but it's at a good price point (for Chicago) and it was enjoyable enough to entice me to go back.

Wasn't the atmosphere, but rather some of the menu and taste of the food. I don't recall what all I had, though, except the French Onion soup. I know I didn't have steak and perhaps that was the thing to order.

An old boss loved that place, so I've eaten at the one in Chicago 3 or 4 times. Never had a steak though, and nothing I had ever just blew me away, but it was all solid. My favorite was the brick chicken. The patty melt was pretty good as well. I remember their fries sucking though.

Yeah, I didn't either, but that's what Dad wants.

I think the Weber Restaurant probably reflects their grills - not top of the line, but not cheap either. A good value for the money that you won't be disappointed in.

I was at the Chicago one about a month ago. It's a great steak and if he's a fan, much less an enthusiast, he'll love it.

If you guys are talking about the one downtown, that was a block away from where I worked for about 15 years. The food is incredibly average. Trying to compare Weber Grill to a legit steakhouse like St. Elmo's is not an apples to apples comparison.

Have been to the one in Schaumburg a few times and the one nearer the United Center (I think). Schaumburg is better.

I always get the Bourbon Salmon on Cedar Plank and I think it’s pretty good.

Have you ever been to St. Elmo's? Or just curious which, if any, other legit steakhouses you would rank it above?

Basically, if someone came to Chicago and said they wanted a good steak, Weber Grill wouldn't even be in my top 20 recommendations. But it would be fine for lunch on a workday.

Just because he/she loves it does not mean they think its better than 'X' other place.

I love Weber Grill (restaurant) as I've mentioned earlier in this thread. Does that mean I think it's better than St. Elmo's? Of course not.

I love my wife too, but that doesn't mean I think she's the best blonde on the block.

The question isn't "what is the best steakhouse in 'X' city?". It is asking for opinions on Weber.

Right, and that's why I asked...because OP said he was considering Weber Grill and St. Elmo's, and that his dad wanted a good steak.

So just saying you like Weber Grill doesn't give the OP the info he's looking for...which is, do you like it better than St. Elmo's.

I would wager, though, that St. Elmo's is going to be more expensive, perhaps by a decent amount.
