Count me as one who lost interest. The craft beer scene has gotten so out of hand with strange brews and flavors.
+1
1. I've totally lost interest
2. The price of admission is ridiculous these days. Pop into the local brewery for 2 beers and you're out for no less than $16 where I am. $20 for a 4 pack to bring to my house and drink? No thanks.
3. The older I get the fatter it makes me
4. The older I get the more those 2 beers hurt me
I keep the garage fridge stacked with Dos Equis and ranch waters and I enjoy the shite out of those.

Yes it’s become saturated
I was at Total Wine in Dallas last week and they had a whole freaking section of just local beers. Not state
It was at least 25 brands and each brand had 5-6 beers with weird flavors. Keep it simple guys
Last brewery I was at had 3 different IPAs

Just 3?
I had a meeting the other day at a brewery. $24 for 3 beers. And tip on top of that.
I had a Mexican lager and it was admittedly good.

I was a brewery fanatic for a couple of years and loved trying just about any beer, either in taprooms or off the shelf. These days I'd almost rather just drink Dos Equis with a lime. Just kinda got burnt out on it all I assume.

Deacon Baldy's (30+ craft beers on tap) is still packed most nights but I am thinking those folks are there for the atmosphere and food trucks rather than the beers. I'll still have a Ghost in the Machine or Yellow Rose but I am more than content with a Modelo w/lime.

I still drink the hell out of IPAs (though I shouldn’t). However, I can’t tell you the last time I filled my growler or went into a brewery so I could by a four pack or six pack of something that’s not on the store shelves.
St Arnold Art Cars, Double Down, and Eureka Heights MiniBawce…all three readily available fresh at every HEB and taste as good as the shite we used to chase down at breweries.

And remember when it was awesome to score some of that from the brewery or on draft? Now both easily accessible in Houston by walking into the grocery store.

The adjunct beers are big sellers. Martin House in Ft Worth, who used to do some great, simple beers, does all sorts of adjunct stuff now. They did a pickle beer long before anyone else I know of and I thought it was horrible but a lot of my friends loved it. They are about to release a Fletchers Corn Dog beer. As for number of local breweries, you got to remember, DFW has a bigger population than the entire state of Louisiana. The breweries I go to are always crowded even when I met some friends from out of town on a Tuesday afternoon, Manhattan Project had a good crowd and when we left around 6, all tables were taken.

I still enjoy IPAs, sours and stouts, but I'm done going out of my way to hit up breweries for special releases or even just to drink there. I'd much rather have drinks on my patio or in my pool. My pool fridge is loaded up with High Noons, Modelos and such, and I'll grab a 4-pack of local-ish IPA from the store to keep on hand. I don't feel the need to hang out at a brewery and drink beer any longer though. The same can be said about craft beer bars as well.

I think it did when every place started charging $7+ for a pint or $16+ for a 4 pack of 16oz cans.
That's when I bowed out.

“Craft Beer” has basically turned into IPAs and Double IPAs.
It’s really pushed casual beer drinkers away because if they don’t like IPAs then there isn’t much for them to drink.
Pretty much every brewery I go to has at least one lager, pilser, marzen, etc

This story refers to Charlotte. I can tell you why it's slowing here...burnout. There's over 75 breweries in the region. It's insane.

It’s really pushed casual beer drinkers away because if they don’t like IPAs then there isn’t much for them to drink. And as much as beer connoisseurs want to look down on causal beer drinkers, that’s where all the money is.

And a stout, usually 2 or 3.

2013 IPA would have been a West Coast but the term wasn't used much back then. West Coast as a term was created to differentiate with the New England style.

Seltzers have done a number on breweries. Between the quality getting better and having 90-100 calories/no carbs, it’s hard to compete with that. Especially with younger demographics that don’t want to get fat. I still like going to a brewery on a nice Saturday or Sunday but I can’t remember the last time I bought a six pack of craft beer.

No, but perhaps slowing down in saturated markets.
True.

there are still neighborhoods that could use one.
I'd love to open one where I live. Gonna get a small pilot system this Xmas if my daughter's wedding doesn't drain me.

Yes, and I was ahead of the curve. I drink complete trash minus wine and it's great

I don’t think that the “bubble burst.” More that the novelty has worn off

It’s amazing how easy it is to get some of the previously super sought after stuff nowadays. BCBS, KBS and their variants you can find on shelves whenever , which I’m fine with. Still not a ton of craft brewers doing barrel aging because of the time, space, and money investment required. It’s definitely gonna be one of the things I miss about Chicago and the Midwest, basically the center of the barrel aging universe.

Honestly... can't get out of almost any brewery for under $20+ of you're leaving a decent tip on just 2 pints.
