We'd do the same at my now late father-in-laws house when he had the huge crowd for Thanksgiving week. Not enough fridge space and we'd leave casseroles, gravy, stuffing, etc., on his screened in back porch if it was in the 30's.
He only had one fridge and there would be far too much food to put in it. If it was warmer, we'd just go buy some ice and put dishes in the ice chests to keep them cold and not spoil.

Tell you wife....thank you...it means more gumbo for you

I left big pot of beef stew out overnight last night. Enameled cast iron with heavy lid and put it in the BBQ grill, lid pulled down.
Warming for lunch today.

The temperature is the important thing. Not the box.

It’s absolutely fine, and likely even better today

sounds like more gumbo for you.

Was it good when you ate it? Like really good? If so bring it to me.
Ain’t nothing wrong with that gumbo. Eat it.

Your gumbo is fine, I would check on that 42 degree fridge though.
Pro Tip, do not mention any concern about fridge to your wife. You will replace entire contents and fridge to end the bullshite.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. The Gumbo tasted great, still eating on it today, the wife even ate it as well and loved it.
Regarding the fridge temp, that’s the factory setting as far as I can tell. All I know is that I push a button on the water dispenser and it gives me the fridge temp and the freezer temp. It’s a Samsung fridge that Came with the house.

We'll make a note of things if we don't hear from you again.

First thing you have to think of is whether the gumbo is COOL before you refrigerate it. If you leave it in a large pot, it is not cool. The middle of the gumbo will not get cool to the right temperature in the right time.
What you think they make these for????

Dude, my ice chest sitting on my porch was my fridge for several days this week due to no power. The gumbo is fine.

Another thing to add to this discussion.
When allowing a big pot of food to cool, it should be stirred every 10 to 20 minutes to help the "center" part of the pot to cool faster. Do this until the outside of the pot is only warm to the touch.
I thought about putting a big pot of soup outside a few nights ago, but I let it cool a little in the kitchen and then started putting it in containers to freeze.

Half the time I forget to put a big pot back in the fridge before I go to sleep, wake up and still on the stove... so then have to dump it.... if it’s sub 40 for the night putting it on back porch so I don’t waste it
