Griddle - Outdoor Kitchen

Finalizing our pool outdoor kitchen design. Originally was going to go with grill, side burner and BGE. Thinking about replacing the BGE with a griddle. for smoking I think I will go with a pellet grill as I like the ease of it.
For griddle owners, how much are you using it compared to grill and or smoker. Griddles have become very popular as of late - I like the idea of having one but nit sure how much ill really use it and what will I cook on it.
Cant beat a grill due to the ease of clean-up.

Griddles are easy to clean and very versatile cooking surfaces.

I have a griddle and a Kamado Joe. I wouldn’t consider them interchangeable. I use them both equally depending on what I’m cooking. I like burgers better on the griddle. Chicken better on the kamado. I like having them both so I have options.

FWIW, just built mine with a Primo, grill and side burner. I’ve used the side burner zero times. Wish I would have done something different there. Don’t think I would have had enough room for a griddle but would have used the shite out of that.

Man I think I’d stick with your egg and grill
You can easily place a flattop onto your grill to make it a griddle

I have a 36" Blackstone and it is awesome. Use it pretty often.

I have a dual side burner I have used maybe 5 times in 5 years. If I did it over again id skip it OR put one of those bigger power burners for boiling smaller pots seafood and stuff. I have a separate deep fryer so I don't need to heat oil on it.
As for the griddle, grill, BGE situation if you dont have all 3 id keep the BGE and grill and do as above and put a griddle on the grill. OR keep your grill if you want something like that and get a pellet smoker.
I would also look at the Primo XL vs BGE because to me oval > round imo

Don't buy a griddle. Stick with what you are planning and get yourself a griddle made for your grill.

I have one for my rangetop, and I wish I did it for my grill instead. It works great.

A Griddle and pellet grill would be the most versatile combo. I use my griddle more than all my other outdoor cooking apparatus. Mainly because a lot of what I would cook indoors now gets cooked on the griddle. Don't skimp on the griddle size I contemplated a 28" but went with the 36" and I'm glad I did.

Anyone ever do a pizza on the griddle?

I don't think that would work well. You need that radiant heat.

I am trying to figure out a way to cook one other than the oven. I have tried on my primo and it never ends well. shite sticks and it looks like a deformed amoeba.

My Griddle has a built in air fryer and air frying pizza works great

You've listede that griddle before but I don't see a grease trap on it which is a huge no from me when cooking over an open flame. It limits what can be safely cooked on the griddle.
Little Griddle Professional is a 28" grill or stovetop griddle and it has a great grease trap.

I have a lodge pizza stone. I throw it on my Weber genesis. It’s awesome.

Its in the front of the griddle where all the holes are

Agreed, however I think you can interchange a pellet grill or egg type grill, depending on what your preference is.
But, the overall theme is that there is zero reason to have a gas grill. Everything you do on a gas grill will be made better by a griddle.

Thanks. It is a very nice looking griddle.
