Rhinestone Life (2019) - 68 reviews - 4.03

I feel like this is probably accurate. Better than previous. Good. Not awesome.

I've been dealing with Great Raft for 5 years and I used to care, but I don't anymore. I used to get pissed because they would distribute beer people care about so randomly and in small amounts. They were always on top of the black lager and dry-hopped pilsner. The beer they brew doesn't sell anymore. Plain and simple. They don't literally drop the ball. It's a figurative thing. They drop the ball as a brewery. Just another example of a brewery that doesn't educate themselves about market trends and so they will distribute small amounts of the beer people want, but never lose focus of the black lager, multiple pilsners and golden ale. They drop the ball on themselves and making money. Even the taproom stuff is often head scratchers these days. The barleywine was super underwhelming. My favorite beer they brew is You Me & Everyone We Know and this last batch I'm chalking up to an April Fools joke with putting vanilla on the label. Maybe the recent batch of Rhinestone Life is better, but they're still trending towards average as a brewery.

I bought 2 4 packs at brewniverse and had to drain pour most of them. Bought a case a month later at the broadmoor Albertsons and they were all fine. Loaded up a week later at the uptown rouses and everything was great.

This batch of rhinestone is fantastic though. Had the sabro smash this past weekend and it was delicious too.

i agree. and tasted like a malty version of Grace and grit. Im willing to bet RL's grist is very similar to G&G and use the same hops.

ou also said all their beers taste the same
G&G and RL tasted very similar. Maybe they changed the RL recipe.

I promise you they are not having an issue making money

They make it pretty clear that a lot of that stuff is beer that was created by employees having fun with ingredients. Hell they recently let the cellar guy have a crack at brewing stuff.

They are having fun as a brewery and are getting and staying pretty damn creative... some of it is gonna miss no doubt, and I guess that makes a brewery average to you.

I'd rather have an "average" brewery around, than one who puts out one type of beer with different obnoxious descriptions and an ever increasing price tag... but you do you baw

I actually agree with you here. It was like a malty g&g, now it's certainly its own beer and very good.

This x100. I get so sick of the Parish circle jerk around here, their shite is mediocre at best and ridiculously priced.

1. They're released like 27 different SIPS variations in the past two years.
2. Maple Shade.
3. Vanilla Shade.
4. Our Cake is a Lie.
5. Soon, Barrel-Aged Our Cake is a Lie.
6. Soon, Coconut Shade.
7. Double Vanilla Reve.
8. Toasted Coconut Reve.
9. Abbey Reserve.
10. Grand Reserve.
11. Imperial Reserve.
12. Jameson Irish Stout.

And yes, they're a brewery known for their hops. I don't argue that.

I'm glad we're having this debate.

Went by and tried the Great Raft Amber Waves of Pain and thought it was pretty good if you like that style of beer. I think it’s a once and done, so go get some soon if interested.

The cans have a cool label with a rassler on it. The release date also featured live rassling at the taproom.

Grace & Grit is steadily getting worse and starting to shelf turd, and you constantly want to make fun of nationally sought after IPAs. When the festival Parish was at in Brooklyn a month ago opened it's doors, they had a longer line than Monkish, Trillium, any of the known IPA breweries with people wanting DDH Ghost. Great Raft is distributing TWO different dry-hopped pilsners at the same time. You can keep all the Rhinestone Lifes.

Your butthurt is awesome.

I don't think you can comment on someone's butthurt after typing a paragraph to refute a solid troll.

Ehh...it’s much worse on that Facebook page run by the old man who thought his street cred meant he deserved special privileges. They pretty much all hang on Andrew’s jock over there.

Fanboy overload or not, this is false. Reve is a phenominal non-BA stout, especially considering it’s under 8%. Ghost is a kickass DIPA as well.

quote:

and ridiculously priced.

Regular Ghost and Envie are actually very reasonably priced for what they are. Bloom, being only a 6% IPA, is higher than I’m willing to pay for the watered down taste. And yes, the special release multi-dry hop stuff is ridiculously priced to me, but when you know you’ll have people lined up to St Martinville in order to purchase...why not? Supply and demand.
